Santa SCORE! Hypertherm Plasma Cutter. 2 projects down.

Santa scored me a used Hypertherm 30 this morning. Seems that after contemplating a Hobart unit, he decided to buy the name brand for about the same money...on the used market.

First two projects I knocked out in a jiffy were a freehand bird pair designed to be stuck into a tree trunk and “Dado, Goddess of the workshop”, which is now hanging above my table saw. I used 2 old 10 inch non-carbide saw blades I’ve had sitting on my shelf for about 15 years.

IF you want quality, made in USA, a employee owned company, buy a HYPERTHERM . Best unit out there. I attended Fabtech and majority of the plasma table manufactures all have Hypertherm.

Those are very nice units!! But too expensive for my needs. This is for minor stuff, hobby projects... looking for something in the inexpensive side.

Right now I just need one to cut some brackets for a light and figured I would buy one instead of using a jigsaw There is no logic to my madness...

Depending on what you are cutting, a portaband on a stand is great. This is a permanent setup I made. The saw has busted top casting so I added sheetmetal strip to cover. Great saw for $25.00.

Hossier awesome job on the freehand art I don't have a steady enough hand for cutting anything with out a straight edge.
