Welcome to GJ, Ax, I, Personally have never heard of that brand, so I can't comment on that.

It might help to put your location in profile

I just looked at the SATA web site, It appears that they have a lifetime warranty, and are made by Apex Tool Group. Apex makes many tools, of varying quality, so I still can't offer an opinion.

Sata is a Chicom company owned (or at least managed) by Apex Tool Group. Apparently all the GearWrench tools made in China are manufactured by Sata. Reportedly the largest tool maker in China.

hey thank you, it was a very useful information for me get my tools.

I saw a SATA display about 5 years ago when they were owned by Danaher, and at the time, I think they were made in Taiwan. They were very nice and appeared to be high quality.

I've had some Satas for about 10 years. Sockets, wrenches, drivers and allen handles. It's all top notch.

interesting, please tell me too, if you used the tools to do much strength loosening nuts and bolts, never caused breaking tool or just dusting? you still have the tools? thank you. ;)

Yes, I still have them. They haven't seen much use lately, I use them when I travel for machinery installations. They saw a fair amount of use for about 3 years and I had no issues. To address you strength question, everything I did was assembly, there was very little loosening.

Hope this helps.

I have a set of ratchet wrenches, a set of double box ends and ?>?? a few other things I got at a garage sale. Its basically Gearwrench and well made. Not sure where it's made but that never mattered to me. Its either junk or not. Milwaukee, much of DeWalt, Makita and Bosch...it's all China now. They're moving forward.I have a shop full.

They look like very well made tools and with care should last you forever and I had them I'd be proud to own them. Find a brand you like and invest in them it doesn't matter if others don't like them or where it's made as long as you like them. Welcome to Garage Journal we are all tool addicts here.

Menards sells Crescent brand combination wrenches at what i think are quite low prices. When i noticed the were made Apex i thought they were rebranded Gearwrench, but after comparing the dimensions of the two, the GW combo's are a bit longer. I remembered someone mentioning Apex also owns Sata i looked at their website, and after looking at the specs of the Sata wrenches i'm fairly certain Crescent and Sata combo's are the same.I haven't used the Crescent wrenches a lot, but they look really nice, much better finish then the Stanley and Bostich wrenches they sell at Walmart.
