Yes there is direct bury line. Which one you run is dependent on how far you go. How far is it?

yes you can, but it must be direct bury cable. It needs a migration/flooded compound. not sure but i think you need dual cable or 2 separate lines for one hookup. are you feeding it from the house, or vice versa?

At 60 feet you could go with RG-6 direct bury flooded with 100% solid copper conductor. Don't get cable with a clad conductor for satellite. Stay away from RG-59 cable.

and to add to your plans.. lol.
Any interest in cat5 for computers out there?
Might as well run some conduit out there and just the regular coax and cat5 to get everything out there at once.
Just a thought.

I agree with socapots, put it in a conduit, save you from putting a shovel or other tool through it down the road, you can always pull the cable out and change it, you do not want to have to dig a trench again do ya. Do not use any joints in the cable, one piece, moisture will condensate and give you grief, PVC conduit is cheap, you may want to run electrical some day also, size it 1" or 1 1/4", you cant' go wrong this way. good luck

It might also be worthwhile to run two lines in case you want to run a DVR out there at some point down the line.

think ill get another reciever.

Is this for satellite or cable?

If it's satellite I wouldn't even bother, I'd hang another dish right on your shop. You should be able to find one dirt cheap or free. Your monthly charge wouldn't change whether the shop box was hooked to the house dish or the shop's. I do this with my motor home.

If it's cable, then never mind.

That's a damn good idea though the newer dishes are more difficult to align than previous satellite dishes.

If there are other cables to run (phone/network) then I'd just stick with the RG6 in the ground along with them.

I would run phone and ethernet cables as well. I ran an air line to my house and love it. I would also throw in some hoses for water, nd spares for whatever. you can always fish through the waterline. I used 1 1/4 plastic lne on a roll.

I ran 2 2" gray pvc runs plus my power. building has its own well, no home phone and recieve wifi pretty well out there. wish my cell reception was a little better in the building (or do I). 1 of the two inch runs will contain a feed wire from the front of the garage to the front of the building so I can turn on all the cariage lights from 1 switch.

I like the shop having its own dish idea less complicated!
thanxs for the info
