Satisfying

Been doing the finish electrical work on the garage this week.

1st was the overhead lighting, then the many 120 & 240V plugs. Yesterday I put on the ceiling fan (what a PITA) and baseboard heaters. Today it's been the cover plates and the cover for the breaker panel (with labeling, etc).

I'm not an electrician so it's slow. A real electrician would take 1/4 of the time.

But wow is it satisfying! The garage is really looking "finished" now and it's so nice to wire a circuit, throw the breaker, and have something new working.

Just have to do the outside work (plugs on each wall, motion lights above the man doors, an RV plug, and flood lights on the front wall) and the electrical will be finished.

I'm right there with you. I've only got my 50A welding plug remaining for my initial electrical work. I may do some in up at the ceiling for some retractable trouble lights or party lights but I haven't officially decided on those yet.

I put a couple of plugs in the ceiling. They will serve double duty. 1st is to have something for the remote lights for my garage door openers (I have jackshaft openers that come with a wireless light that needs to be pligged into AC power). 2nd is that I plan to put retractable extension cord reels on the ceiling. Was thinking about putting a couple of plugs into the slab, but ceiling with a cord reel was much simpler.

Good job on your success. Take your time you should not worry about how long it takes but that you have done it correct as you are doing.

Good to hear. It's definitely a good feeling but getting the electrical done and inspected is only the beginning, you know it is:willy_nil

Just make sure you use "in use" covers for the outdoor outlets. I got dinged for that on my garage.

I got plugs operating this week, outside security lights and started on the light runs. Pretty much chewed up 200+' of 12-2 and had to buy another roll. I have a 100' of 12-2 MC but I'm not coming up with many places to use it. I still have 5 runs of nearly 40' to make for other plug circuits and 20A 240V stuff. Just takes a while. It was sure nice to get off the one temp plug I put by the breaker box and the long extensions.
