Saturday Flea Market Score

Hit up my local flea market for the first time today (not sure what took me so long). LOTS of tools but tons of junk. Most sellers had the craftsman separated which was nice. tons of 5 gallon buckets of a mixture of sockets, wrenches and ratchets new and old. I did a lot of digging. There was lots of PLO(V)MB out there which lead me to my first find (I needed a 1/4" ratchet - $2)

I then walked 10 feet and pulled this out of a pile on the ground ($15):

Fun day. Any way to buff those initials off the speeder ratchet? I am assuming it is some sort of chrome finish they are engraved into or is it stainless?

You did very good those little speeders go for big dollars in good condition on E-bay for crazy high prices.

If that speeder works well, you're looking at at least $50. Would be closer to $100+ without the PO initial's.

Wow! Bet you go back to the next flea market. I personally don't worry to much about names or initials on tools. I'd rather see the initials than see a ground off spot where someone removed them.

+1 to just clean up the Craftsman but don't worry about engraved initials.

I have several speed wrenches back from when I was a auto mechanic...haven't used them in probably 25 years....I guess if you were rebuilding a top fuel funnycar engine between rounds they might be helpful....don't really even remember ever using one. always reach for a regular ratchet, or and air tool of some sort...

The tool that we're talking about is a Speeder Ratchet. Speed Wrenches and Speeders are completely different.

I go to the local flea market A BUNCH and have seen 1, and only 1 in person for sale in the 20+ years I've been looking/collecting tools. Guy wanted $15-20 for it, and at the time, that was too much-at least in my book.

Still regret passing it up.

Got mine for like 5 bucks with a long extension on it in the early 90's at the
Flea mkt. I never saw one before or after in the wild.Ithought it was cool and i was building engines then so i did use it alot then.not too much anymore .
