Savaged Miniature Stanley Vise

I don't know who would do this to a tiny clamp vise. I cannot assist it. Perhaps someone here can.

What is there to know about this thing? Is that type of repair...reparable?

Should be able to mill up a new set of soft jaws for it. As to the dynamic jaw repair, I suspect it got dropped with the jaws opened wide.

I too would use it for general light clamp/sawing. Unfortunately, some people use a vise as an anvil.

It's a hardware store vise that someone bought to use and they used it. It broke and someone brazed it back to serviceable condition. It should continue to work well for it's intended purpose.

If anything maybe do some filing to the brazing to clean it up a little. Otherwise if it ain't broke (again)...

I plan on cleaning it up nicely, then using it for light-duty purposes. I have a big meaty Chinese vise for the angry work.

Looking at the pics, it has the anvil built in. With the appropriate hammer that is an intended purpose.

I'm not expecting to make it look like new at all, just a fun little cleanup project. I suppose restoration isn't the right word.
