Found this yesterday had to pick it up, Fractional on one side, Metric when you flip it over.

I've got a set like that! They're hilarious!

My guess is that early on tolerances were a bit looser... or maybe they were just guessing at the metric equivalents....?





You do have to concede, however, that the holder gets high marks for the "cool" factor.

those look even worse, I'd always be using the wrong side...like a usb plug, never oriented the right way the first time...
