Save Phace Welding Helmets

I have a question, I happen to be rep for this companies Airsoft/Paintball mask and they keep telling me how great there welding helmets are.

I was wondering if anyone out there has one or can maybe look over the specs and give me some input.

If you don't get any volunteers maybe Google the closest welding shop, head over there and hand it over. I would think at least 1 or 2 people would give it a shot just for shits and giggles.

is the full outside black lens actually see through? or is there a smaller rectangle that is actual see through lens. i like the idea of the full lens like that, are they auto dark, or full dark?

looked it up. they have auto dark, but its same as your average mask, just a rectangle which i expected. but the standard full dark is 180* view lens. cool concept. i would try one if i was near. maybe send them out to someone willing to give em a run for a couple days, and send em back? just an idea

edit - after reading more, the autodark lens is set in the 180* full dark lens, so once you arc, you will still have most of the full view. seems pretty cool concept to me.

^^^^ My problem or 1st impression** with this mask, as a welding helmet is:
- is it auto darkening / how many sensors ??
- what are the specs. / any good on TIG ranges ??
- how much ($$) / I don't need a quote from a web site, just be up front about the cost ??

This welding mask was designed by me, a 22 year 3rd generation welder. Everything I dislike about the old helmets that I have used was addressed. 180 vision field, peripheral vision, was my first issue as I have burned a couple of cars by not being able to see to the side. I also have back issue and needed a helmet that you didn't have to be directly in line with to see. Now you can look to the side to weld. More vision field. An adjustable halo so i could adjust the distance from my face for grinding. I also designed it to have the same shape as my head for airflow and allow for tight fit places. I designed a lens on lens technology to adapt a ADF to the existing old school 180 lens thus allowing for peripheral vision to continue using a ADF. My idea was to market the patents to other more established welding companies after our Snap on toll deal, such as 3m or miller. Unfortunately the owner of the co. decided he didn't want to share and thus we are in litigation which will come to an end this Oct. Can you provide a little more backstory? I can't view any of those documents without paying for it.

I got suckered into buying one of these at a trade show. They are junk. The headgear is uncomfortable, and it won't nod like a normal helmet, so you are forced to either use one hand to drop the helmet, or buy the auto dark lens, which is only 2 sensors IIRC.

So, I decided to put in a clear lens and use it as a grinding shield. It doesn't make a good one of those either. The viewing angle is crappy, and the design of the lens traps grit and then dumps it in your eyes when you look up, which is exactly the problem I was trying to avoid.

The lens changes are unnecessarily complex, and frustrating.

I paid $60. Wouldn't pay $10 again.

I will take my $15 clear shield and my $35 Jackson helmet, thank you very much.

I've had one for 3 or so years and really like it. Comfortable, good protection and excellent viewing area. If you purchase the real item and not a copy, you will not be disappointed

I don't see a price on the site. Personally I paid $40 for my HF auto darkening helmet. Its lasted 2 years now of mixed home and professional use.

I really can't see any need for more viewing space/angle. Your puddle is only so big anyways.
