Saw a GearWrench truck

So the other day I saw a tool truck, but it was GearWrench.
I had no idea they had those. Unless it was a delivery truck? Seemed like your standard tool truck through.
Anyone know anything about those?

One of the Matco trucks by me switched to Gearwrench a couple of months ago. Haven't been on it since the switch, so not sure what she is carrying.

Actually saw a GW tool truck in Greenville, S.C. a few days ago along with a SO and a Matco truck within 5-10 minutes of each other. I was on the "Motor Mile" as it's locally known for new car dealerships.

We have a full fledged GearWrench dealer that comes by the shop. He's officially an independent tool dealer and stocks many brands but his flagship brand is GearWrench and his truck is all done up with GW logos. He uses nationwide tool distributors like Medco and others to get wholesale pricing bulk deals and very often meets or beats Amazon or tooltopia. He stocks tons of GearWrench, Armstrong, OTC, Ingersoll, nitrocat, Milwaukee, Mayhew, Knipex, Channellock, ATD, Astro Pneumatic, S•K, Trusty Cook, Old Forge, Streamlight, really just too many to mention. His sales and promo deals are sometimes impossible to beat and he's a good guy to deal with.

Yup, they have them, although they aren't traditional tool trucks. Unlike most brands, it doesn't take a $50,000-$200,000 investment. You get inventory from gearwrench (don't have to buy it like other tool trucks) and you just drive around and sell the tools. The truck may even be financed/partially funded by gearwrench too. Essentially it allows you to run a tool truck for a price way cheaper than any other brand.

I don't know how they can compete with Amazon or the B&M stores, unless their prices are that good.

I think it would be hard to sell tools off a truck that you can buy for way less money at the local Menards, Sears, etc. Plus most of their stuff is imported from Asia and I can't see people buying Asian tools on credit only to pay them off and they have no value. At least with the USA made Snap-On, Matco, MAC, etc. offerings you can recoup some of the money you spent if you want/need to sell them (sometimes more than you paid).

It's the convenience factor. A lot of pro's don't have the time or desire to hunt down tools, but if a well stocked truck comes around, they can pick up the tools and check the feel, quality, etc..

I don't know both sides of the story, he was kinda a flaky tool guy... honest, but not very reliable, and had been on the outs with Matco before. He says they split his territory and gave a lot of it to a new guy with one of their new "drive around in an NPR with next to no inventory, and be amazed when a business model based on immediate delivery fails when you take longer than Amazon to deliver most things" trucks.

They must be using small NPR's. Here's a medium duty Chevy Kodiak/TopKick SK truck -- probably just large enough to be fully stocked.
