my wife looking at folding saw horses for me a Christmas present. what is your opinion of the best for money on folding saw horses?

See those two notches? There for a 2 x 4 on edge, and they fit solidly in the notch - so it is very easy to make a quick work table, etc. 2,500 lb load rating

Also, the legs adjust for height. HD or Lowes usually have them

Ive got a set of the Fat Max saw horses also. So far they have been great; the notches for 2x4's make for setting up a good, stable table very easy. Space is limited for me, so the ability to fold these up and hang them on the wall is also very nice.

I've got some of the basic steel galvanized ones that serve my needs pretty well. But a few years back one froze into the ground (my fault) and I HAD to move it so it got trashed in the process.

I went to HD to buy a replacement galvanized and talk about quality fade!! The replacement is much more flimsy and noticeably lighter in the hand. From afar it looks nearly identical but upon inspection it's much lower quality.

I did notice the Fulton link above has the basic folding galvanized that look like my better one.

Also most every BF and 4th of July Ace promotes some of the plastic Stanley 'horses which I don't think (and hope) are not the Fat Max version. I didn't look closely at this year's Ace BF ad as they never have a single thing I want, but the ad has been linked here on GJ

I'd recommend avoiding the sale special Stanleys if they pop up, with my reasons stated here

Those ToughBuilt look interesting as well. I already have 4 of the FatMax and another thing I like about them is the shelf underneath that the ToughBuilt don't have

My original set of FatMax were aluminum now they changed them to stamped steel

I'd suggest the Toughbuilt C700 or the cheaper TOUGHBUILT C550.

I have a set of masterforce #1100's. I got them for $14.99(no Rebate) on sale over the summer, I really like them. They're not as nice as the ToughBuilt c550's but are very sturdy.

I like the Keter folding table mentioned above.

I don't know if it remotely relevant to your setup, but it might also be worth thinking outside the box... I got a BOSSE Bar stool from Ikea, in solid birch, for £25. I needed it as a seat for my high bench, but soon realised that a pair of these would make perfect trestles for me.

Perhaps a pair of regular height ones would work for you, and give you somewhere to sit when not in use?

Or, even try one stool (for the load end) plus one wall-mounted table (for the rest end)? NORBO wall-mounted drop-leaf table, birch:

(Apologies if this suggestion is way out of left field and totally useless to you, but it might work for some folks...)

I love the cheap galvanized blue hawks from lowes. Gotta watch your fingers, but i have better things to spend money on and they fold up nicely.

Big box stores sell mostly garbage so you'll have to look to specialty places to have ones like the fultons, trojans, htcs, etc.

I have Trojans and Stanley Fat Max. The Fat Max is light and folds away easily. The Trojans are bombproof and is a hassle to fold as it disengages the 2" x 4" to fold and is bulky. It sits outside in the rain all the time and after 3 years, some surface rust but still like new. Folding you say? Go with the Fat Max. Heavy Duty durable? Go with the Trojan.

I have what appear to be the HD DeWalt version of the Fat Max and they're great. They'll never be the wood 2x4/metal bracket deals from when I was a kid (I swear they'd hold a car), but the adjustable leg heights are worth it for the extra $.

I have a set of folding saw horses that I think are Storehorse brand. They have provisions to mount a 2 x 4 on end to allow you to safely cut material with a circular saw. Apparently they are no longer made.

All of the ones I have seen recently don't have this feature, which to me makes them nearly useless.

Easy to attached a 2x4 or 2x6 to them, legs adjust for unlevel surfaces and the best feature is how compact they are when folded up and put away. The down side is the leg adjustment is slow and course (meaning they can only be adjusted in like 3" increments) and they are on the heavy side.

That Keter looks amazing. Would probably need 2, or an additional saw horse if I wanted to cut a large panel.

The adjustable legs are so nice when you're on dirt or something uneven.

Ok here is what my military saw horse looks like.they are aluminum tubing. Light but strong.swivel to sit on any surface level or not. I put a block of wood under one leg and set the opposite on an uneven surface.these are great! Fold up into a little bundle. Can put behind seat in truck or in the cabinet in the garage.

I use a pair of the Werner TW372-30. They are designed as work stand, as you can stand on the top step, and double as sawhorses. Also available in 3ft height. Click on the picture for a link to Zoro.

I don't think any of the new Workmates are any good. Give me an OLDER workmate and it is another story. Ask me how i know.
