Sometimes I think the people posting such ads or listings for ridiculously high prices are:

1. Delusional
2. Testing the waters to see if there is really somebody willing to spend that much money on a set of used tools (Note: once in while people do win the lottery!)
3. Fulfilling a promise to their wife / significant person in their life that they will put the stuff up for sale, knowing that it's highly unlikely that anyone will bite at the high price. They fulfill their promise and can say "nobody was willing to pay what the tools are worth."

The counter to that excuse by the wife would be -
"If those tools are worth that much in used condition, HOW MUCH OF OUR MONEY HAVE YOU BEEN SPENDING ON NEW TOOLS ALL THESE YEARS ?!!!" :lol_hitti

" I will consider separating the marine tools from this set for a $5,000 deduction in price."
Set of Mercury and Mercrusier tools (incomplete)
Set of Volvo Penta Marine tools (incomplete)
Set of OMC/Evinrude/Johnson tools (incomplete)
Set of Mercruiser service manuals up to early 2000's
Set of Volvo Penta Manuals (incomplete)
Some Mercury Outboard and Evinrude/Johnson service manuals

I want to live in this guy's world. Then I can retire early from all the money I will make off my incomplete tool and service manual sets.

Well what would you buy this for? I was thinking 1/4 to 1/3 the asking price ..25,000 to 30,000? It is alot of tools and a huge box $$$$.

These sales come up all the time - both on eBay and Craigslist. Some guy retires and thinks he can get 70% retail for what he collected all his life.

The problem is NOBODY buys a set like that to use. The only people who buy sets are dealers/resellers who are going to sell it off piecemeal. And that mean's he'll only pay $0.15 on the dollar.

Or the guy dies before it sells and it is broken up at the estate sale.

LOL, guy is totally dreaming. Didn't see anything in those pictures worth more than $1k, even the tool chest can be had for less than that if you look around.

 That's pretty darn funny(at least to me anyway)
I love Snap On tools and go out with them frequently, we're just not exclusive yet. I can't be tied down to something so expensive and high maintenance.:D

Call me (PM) when you see that set of cabinets (8' x 6' x 30") for under 1000. I'll give you a $500 finder's fee.

So hit up that $100k one on ebay then. Seriously look around you may not get the whole set at once but they're out there you may have to buy parts here and there. But the $100k on the setup on ebay the guy is out of his mind.
