Ya know your welding helmet has been sitting too long when you can’t see through it due to dust.

Time for some foaming spray window cleaner!

Decided to make it a full flat top.

Cut some 12ga galvanized sheet, and Sika’d it down. Didn’t want any screw heads sticking up.

Going to add the shouldered eyebolt to one end for an attachment point.

I hit 138 degrees on a 57 degree day. Got me thinking about 85 degree days.

I don’t want the kiln to go over 150+/-.

I ordered a T-stat that will turn this fan on when it gets too hot inside, and a gravity louver.

I made some good progress on the kiln today!

Finally finished up the siding on the loading door wall, and got the door stops in.

Then I started with more insulation, then vapor barrier before it got to hot. 110 with the doors open.
Might have to get an earlier start tomorrow.

A quick and easy noise reduction upgrade on the mill.

The sheet metal shroud/doors are a bit sloppy, and rattle. A very annoying rattle.

Ordered some rubber sheet metal edging material, got it cut and installed.

Doors fit tighter now, but not too tight. They don’t rattle anymore.

Might not be a huge dB drop, but the annoying part went away✅

Wife called me at work this afternoon.

She was pretty excited.

She spotted a log, and used the grappling hook to pull it in and tie it off to the ramp.

I came home to a fair sized Cedar. Cut both ends off, and it all looks good inside.

Should get enough to finish siding the kiln!

Just under 200BF

Geek’n out with my new exhaust fan controller this afternoon.

Hard to work when it’s 148 inside 😜

Set the on mode to 165, and the off mode to 155.

Unit stays off at temps below 155.

Hoping it helps keep the upper range between those temps.

It’ll be interesting to see how close this unit is to my other internal temp sensor.

Insulation and vapor barrier almost complete.

Instead of finishing, I started with the tempered protection board.

It’s just how my mind works 🤔

Thought the direct sun on my temperature control killed the screen. All powered up, but screen looked like it was powered off.

Took it inside and cooled it down. Everything came back after I plugged it back in. Including the settings.

Gave it a little sun shield.

Spent some time this weekend at the 1st Skagit Valley Wood Expo.

Kind of small, but I’m planning on having a space there next year.

Met some good people, and saw some interesting products, kissed some babies and shook some hands. Even traded a few business cards and said “let’s do lunch”

One of the last task to ✅ was to install the baffle to direct the airflow in the kiln.

I used sawhorses to mock it up. Easier to work around than a stack of wood.

Ready to load once I get an afternoon that isn’t raining. Doesn’t look good this week😕
