We get their Canada cousins here (on the Mississippi river) and they drive me crazy. It's like living next to a frat house - they never sleep! Constant honking 24 hours a day when they're passing thru. No open water outside now (14 degrees F today) so its more peaceful.

I jokingly sent my realtor an email complaining that the noisy geese were not disclosed on the purchase agreement.

I actually think he thought I was serious.

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did think you were serious!

When we sold our last house, a hurricane came through about two weeks after closing, and the storm surge dropped some debris in the front yard. The buyer actually asked our agent if he could get any recourse from us! :eyecrazy:

Woke up to another offering from the channel gods.

It has some rot, and some metal in it. I’ll have to be careful to avoid the spikes.

25’ after I cut both ends off. 22” dia. At both ends-no taper.

There will be a lot of waste on this one due to the rot on one side, but there will still be some gold in there too.

Western Red Cedar.

I thought they were bred / trained to rescue fisherman at sea. Jumping from helicopters....... Our neighbors would not retrieve either. But he was cute.

They are, but newfs don’t have the instincts like a Labrador. Fetching just isn’t their strong point.

My last dog was a Newfie/lab mix. Much more athletic, with much better instinct.

@ranger_the_newfie (Instagram) is just a big, loveable goofball.

Stacked and stickered everything into the drying shed this afternoon.

I then pre-loaded a log for tomorrow.
I would have cut it tonight, but there’s a cold, biting wind coming off the channel tonight.

Decided smoked oysters and herring with beer sounded better. Then parked my **** by the fireplace.
:puke:just thinking of that

I recall Matt Cremona saying they were about twice the cost of his cheap blades but lasted quite a bit longer. But Matt never seemed to be deterred by hitting metal in the least.
Last carbide tipped blade I bought for my bandsaw was over 100 dollars. Wonderful cuts for slicing veneer but i don't run any cheap wood thru it.

Some Sunday afternoon recreational logging.

A 1000 lbs cedar counterbalanced perfectly for one person to push around.

I also excavated the metal spikes. One wouldn’t let go, so I had to cut around it. Oh well.

So tonight, I have one on the mill, and one into position for loading, next time I get a chance 😒

Looks like you may have captured on old telephone pole there. I’m assuming those are the spikes used to climb the pole?

Jay,
I’m assuming it was a pier. The spikes were to attach cross members. Wish I knew the real story.

Our weather forecast is calling for heavy rain with snowmelt, resulting in rivers on the rise.

Could be some good log hunting this week 👍

Figured I’d better get my new truck box sorted out.

Started out by securing it(came with ****** hardware) with some truck/RV rivets. I then lined the bottom with some recycled rubber.

A couple milk crates for my straps/shackles/pulleys/ and misc ****.

Pretty much a dedicated log pulling box.

Don’t get any big ideas, or I’ll show you the caliber of my other toy😲

Not a bad yield from an ugly old log!

I got four of these, 2-1/4” x 21” x 11’.

173 BF old growth TK Red Cedar.

Nice Fuel!

I'll be interested in how well it works for you. Milwaukee stuff is usually excellent, and that would be a saw I'd like to try. I've used an 18v Ryobi for limbs and it requires a lot of patience...

Should be great for cutting off limbs or roots.
Also good for cutting up the waste wood on the sawbuck. It’s a bit quieter too, so less of a neighborhood nuisance

Same here. I have the full suite of M18 stuff and the chainsaw is on my list for future purchase. I have dozens of chainsaws, but no electric one. Would be nice to have one that I can run on Sunday morning without ******* off the neighbors. Let us know how it works out.
