Marking out the waterline on the last stinky log.

Above the yellow line will be filled with holes, below the yellow line will be as good as the day it was felled.

In related news the US Coast Guard is reporting a marked increase in longitudinally-sawn teredo-ridden half-logs floating in the Puget Sound.

So, crab on Saturday, then oysters on Sunday.
Followed by a blow-out bbq Sunday evening.

Pulled pork ****, with all the sides.
Jalapeño cornbread was marvelous!

If I keep this up, I’m definitely going to get a fat ***😎

Oysters from your beds, right? Curious to know how long it takes seed oysters to mature, how often you harvest and in what seasons.

We have a couple types of oysters. They are mature enough to eat at about 18 months to 2 years. Our first batch of 400 are coming to size now.
As long as there isn’t an alge bloom, you can eat them, but fall into winter is when they are supposed to taste best.

Stole the truck from work, and picked up a few ugly logs.

Definitely ugly on the outside, but I'll bet the slabs will turn out purdy.
When I went out to look at these, I grabbed a small one. Cut it up, and the inside was all good.

Hoping that holds true for these.

Not sure about the Alder, I hear the bugs come at ‘em fast once they hit the ground.

After dropping a few thousand pound logs on the mill, I thought it was time to check the rails for straight and level. After making a few adjustments to the jacks, I set up a laser. See how the blade stays lit up, all the way down the length of the mill? Side to side, front to back, the blade is in one continuous plane.

As I usually leave the mill head pushed back all the way, which is cantilevered out past the last set of jacks, I added a pair of RV stabilizer stands. This should help with any sagging due to the constant load.

We had a cherry stump sitting around and decided to cut some cookies out of it. The stump has been out of the ground for 3 or 4 years and it was still plenty wet inside. Looks like some interesting projects for next year

Finally worked through the Boomstick Toredo log.

All cut, stacked and stickered, and under cover.

Approx 900BF.

Ya, I’m not jealous 😱

Wish I had access to a more interesting variety of species.

The last load of cedar was just okay, but ended up with too much waste, to little yield.

Live and learn 🤔

Only had a half hour to mill.
