Very long story short, your "Sawyer Tool Co." combination vise is circa (1935-1960) and was originally manufactured by "The Sawyer Foundry & Machine Works". They had purchased the patterns and tooling from a defunct Oswego Tool Co. / International Nutyp Tool Corp. sometime in 1935.
While researching on several Oswego Tool Co. vises that I own, I've had quite a few fascinating reads on the history of the Oswego Tool Co. and town of Oswego NY. Really good stuff! I need to organize my information and post a thread of what I know from the beginning to the end (1892-1960), as I understand it.
Anyway, I like your vise. Possibly, you could post a few more photos from different angles for our viewing pleasure. Here's a 1941 catalog scan of your model.
