I'm from Northern Virgina, just outside DC. I've been lurking the forums for a while and thought I would register. I currently have no garage, but I'm in the planning stages for building an attached one on my home and the advice and ideas here have been top notch.

Welcome aboard NOVA87!

Some beautiful communities out in your neck of the woods. I have twin Daughters who both moved out there after graduating college. Initially one in Dulles, other Daughter was just down the road in Sterling. Now they're both in Alexandria.

Thanks! That's actually where I live, in Alexandria. Not the nice Old Town area, but closer to Springfield. Nice 1960's home that I've been redoing and no HOA :bounce:

Springfield? New term to me (except for Bart & Homer references). They're on the "west" end of Alexandria, just south of the mall - Landings? Landwood? Edsall road / 395 area.

Love visiting Old Town with the girls & my new Son-In-Law when we're out there. The Mrs & I go out there with the intent of trying to talk them into moving back to Michigan..... fat chance. Grab dinner at an Irish pub with sing-alongs of old drinking songs. Wind up strolling down King Street working on an ice cream cone, end up at the park / marina area watching the street performers, artists, jugglers, etc. The Wife & I look at each other and luagh "they're not moving back, are they?"

Alexandria is cool.

Well look at that, they're right by me. I'm just about a mile southeast from there. Springfield is the area where all the highways converge (I95, I395, I495) and is only about 2 miles southwest of them.

Old Town really is a good time, Murphy's Irish Pub is a favorite, but I also really like the Thai restaurant right on the water next to the Torpedo Factory, where all the street performers are.

I wish I knew something about your neck of the woods, but I've only ever been out to eastern Michigan for work. Port Huron/Sault Ste. Marie area.
