I couldn't find it anywhere but at Zoro...free shipping on $50 order.Good company.

I was looking around. It is not hard to find $50 of stuff you can use. They have a lot of great products! Have you ordered from them a lot in the past? Any issues?

My cleanup is almost compete and I can get back to work. But the workbenches are done!

The only thing I have left to do is set up my paint booth on the other side of the garage. I still need to finish cleaning that area.

I have had great luck with them. However, as with everything, check around for your pricing.I have found that some things are really cheap and other things are more money than say Amazon.I just make a list and google everything and see what I can get cheaper at Zoro. Also, if you log on to their site and register, they will send you coupons every month or so.I just had one that was $25 off a $75 order...pretty sweet.:D

Thanks, I just signed up. I have my eye on the stainless steel sink with foot peddle. That would be great in my garage!

Thanks, Pete. I hope to have some more progress soon. I couldn't do anything after work yesterday even though I am in town. My brother mailed me his broken phone and I had to work on it all night.

Here's a savings code for you...PRESENT2. $25 off $125

Thank you! I will explore my plumbing options this weekend and see if I can do it.

I got a lot done today even though I don't have much to show for it compressor wise. Still prep work making room and cleaning up. The final location for the air compressor is cleaned up so I can start to run electrical soon and test the motor.

Today I also cleaned and polished my tool boxes. I moved the tool boxes away from where my sink will be and moved them next to the panel where my blasting cabinet will eventually be.

I also finally got that stinking chemical closet out of my garage! It was starting to get to me because of the strong smells. It was a lot of work and I needed to empty it out completely, move it and put everything back in the storage shed. Now I feel sorry for the squirrel that lives in my shed.

My tool boxes will move to where the chemical closet was and tomorrow I will clear off and dismantle the shelf to the right of the newly open space to fit both sets of tool boxes. I just need clean up the nasty mess it left behind first.

Hopefully I can build my new paint booth tomorrow also.

It must feel good to finally get some time to do this stuff!

It does feel good. I have to take full advantage of every opportunity at home. Today I have off for holiday but I probably won't be able to get back to it until next weekend after today.

I am back in town now. I had to drive though two snow storms and wake up to 7 degree weather. That is cold for me since I live in the South.

Here are some pictures of what I got done before I left town.

The toolboxes are in their new cleaned up location freeing up space for a future sink and blast cabinet.

That couch I hope is only temporary. My son sits on it now but I really want it out of my garage. It is a very old couch that needs to be fixed up and moved in the house. I got some fabric for it and a book on how to do it. Probably need to buy some new foam also. Not sure the age, maybe from the 1920's.

The temporary paint booth for part painting just needs to be skinned. I am still working out the details for the exhaust fan. I don't want to paint the whole garage green again so I am going to set up a fan to **** the air through a filter to capture as much as I can.

I got the paint booth skinned and vented now. Not my best work but it is only temporary.

The fan I am using fit well but not as powerful as I hoped. I wanted to vent the paint so it would not spread all over the garage like it did last time. The filter in front of it I hope will catch most of the stray paint particles and not blow it around everywhere.

I also put down a drop cloth where I will stand because last time the floor turned green in front of my bench.

Talking about benches now I will be painting on top of the tank and not the bench, so I don't have to take up my bench space while painting this time.

I must admit I did get distracted by something very shinny! But tonight I got some work done. :)

When I was at Northern Tool last time I picked up this brass wire brush set for your drill. The Dremel was taking too long and the bits self destructed extremely fast. I would end up with little strands of wire everywhere poking me. Too my surprise this set from Northern Tool works very good and does not loose hair! I think it was a clearance item which makes me very sad because I only got one set. Hopefully I can find more. But the big brush attached to my drill makes quick work of it.

I had to switch drills because the battery died. Then I went through two batteries of my Dewalt also. Next time I will try corded and see if it is not too heavy to use. One thing that happened was the machine shop left a grease spot when they cleaned it and that contaminated the brush. After it got dirty it did not work as well anymore. I will try to avoid doing that again and clean it up completely first.

Enjoy some pictures of my progress tonight. Additional pictures continued on next post.

Here are some before and after pictures. You can see how well the brush works. It is going to save me a lot of time over the old Dremel method. Just I need to use the Dremel on the tight areas.

Only thing I despise with regards to wirebrushing is the amount of **** it throws around, have to wear a respirator especially with old paint and other ****.

I was a bit surprised when I went to clean up. **** was everywhere. Even on the wall and all over me. Mask and goggles are a must for this. Things will be better when the air compressor is finished. Having a blast cabinet will be welcome!

Ok to buy a major overhaul kit including valves, rings, bearings bushings, seals, gaskets and filter elements you're looking at $1161. Plus freight, minor over haul kit is $671.00. Main diff is minor comes with valve repair kit instead of replacements. New 707 is $2924. Whole unit is $6900-8100 depending on tank size. You can run a 707 at 7.5 hp but will need to change motor pulley and belts. Mag starter you can prob use but will need to change overloads and wire a little diff. Bottom line is this is a quality machine you can have for less than 1/2 of new. Can you find a better deal? Always, just not when you need to sometimes.

Yeah, you should get an air compressor, so you can finish your air compressor!

Someone already told me that I shouldn't use rattle cans to paint the compressor and should use a compressor. Things will be so much easier when it is complete.

Jason will be happy to hear that I was working in the garage most of the day. Still prep work and not paint I am sorry to report. But as everyone knows prep is 90% of a project like this.

Today I used something I picked up at Sears clearance. It is a outlet with a wired swtich. It came in handy to turn the dremel on and off when I needed to.

I put on a little cup on the dremel tool to get in the crevices of the first inter-cooler that I was working on before. After that I did the second inter-cooler. This time I did it on the floor for the rough work because the mess that wire brush makes. The fine work I did on the bench with a dremel, pick and sandpaper. I took off the safety valve to clean the threads and get ready to install the replacement.

I have a question for anyone following this. Should I leave the plugs on the bottom of the inter-cooler alone and just paint over it or should I remove the plugs and put some sealant on the threads and close it back up? The reason I ask is that I could not get the plugs off using reasonable force. I could put some penetrating lubricant and heat on it and force it off but I figure if it is that hard to get off maybe I shouldn't mess with it and it may be airtight already.

The other question I have is why does my garage smell like Wright Patt Air Force Base when I use the wire brush on the metal? It really brings back memories when I smell it but just don't know why it smells the same.

What are those plugs for? There isn't some sort of spring and other parts in there that will shoot out if you uncap it?

If it was me, and I couldn't get them off fairly easily I would probably just leave them. They have probably rusted some on the inside from the constant moisture.

I think it is just a drain plug. But I don't know if I need to drain it regularly or not?

Almost been a month... any updates???

:willy_nil :(

I have been living in hotels and lucky to make it back home for the weekend. I won't even be in the country this week. Yesterday I spent all day with my Son and today I need to prepare for leaving tomorrow and take the wife shopping for supplies for the week. I need more time local to settle everything down to work on the compressor. Hopefully I will get some home time in a few weeks.

I fly out again in the morning for work. Just not enough consecutive days to get back in the groove. When I am home I end up playing with my son and doing local things I have to get caught up on. I wish my schedule was more stable.

I just got my garage back together with my SB-705 (clone) ready to reassemble. I'm gonna give you one more month to finish or else I'll hijack your thread with my rebuild.

I have been following this for a long while now. I am very impressed by your attention to detail regarding the paint prep, I bet you wish you had a compressor and blast booth!

Stick with it, I know exactly how frustrating it is to not be able to find the time to finish a long project. It will be worth it in the end, and you can never regret quality time spent with family.

Thank you for letting us join you on this endeavor, I would have been tempted to throw in the towel during the crank debacle.

Dude, i just read 38 pages on a compressor rebuild thread that was started in 2013 and there is not yet a conclusion to this? Sigh, i'm gonna take a shower and go to bed. Sheesh.

Btw, sweet.
