Thought I'd share some pics of my Saylor Beall compressor and tell some of the problems I'm having with the wiring on the 13 hp honda with electric start.
I've ordered the low oil sensor, diode pack and the throttle control and have been attempting to wire it up for electric start. It works fine as far as starting but my switch doesn't break the connection in the off position yet does read continuity between red and black in the on position instead of reading open therefore it won't short out coil to ground in the off. With everything hooked up like the diagram shows it is shorted and won't crank. Is this typical of this switch or am I missing something? Also am wondering which wire goes to the charging coil and which to the ignition coil.I know a toggle switch between grd. and ignition coil will solve the problem.
Also my SB looks different from some I've seen on here as mine has 2 coolers on each side, one prior to the second cylinder and one prior to the tank. Also who's got a good source for decals?

your going to need a DMM and maybe draw out a wiring diagram so we can understand how your connected.
Maybe you have a two pole switch instead of three?

You've got a lot of questions in there! Agree with the above poster - draw out a diagram, and then ohm out your existing switch in each position, and then you can figure out how to wire it. Any wiring diagram from a similar piece of equipment (riding mower, pressure washer, generator) should get you what you need - plenty of them online.

Your compressor is a two-stage unit. The larger cooler on the left is the interstage cooler or intercooler, which is between the low-pressure and high-pressure cylinders. The smaller cooler on the left is the aftercooler.

Thanks guys for the responses. I typed out a long explaination of my idea of what a switch should do and realized that if I ground the red instead of the black that in the off position it will close and ground the coil, but somehow when hitting the submit everything was lost. Hope this one goes through.

That didn't work either as I need an open circuit from red to black in the off position and no matter how you hook it it's still closed in the off.

Hmmm. Maybe just add either a momentary "kill" pushbutton, or an on-off toggle switch.

Yeah that'll do, wait till I show pics of my CL find its a champion industrial 4cyl with a 250 gal. tank. Way more than I need even if the electric motor was still there. According to the maker it takes a 30 hp to run--- its huge I don't even think the 13 hp honda will handle it.
