Google is perpetuating all this ****, when you search and it shows shopping links these types of sites are popping up as the lowest price. If these scammers were smarter, they would start a website with high prices, leave it up for a year, then bring the prices down 25% below what everyone else has and say there is a limit of three per customer. That would really make them some money.

The real problem is that people today are too gullible and don't have as much common sense as they used to. The internet, google, and forums like this have made things worse. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it is and don't look at the one in a million deal that someone got as justification, all that does is raise costs for everyone when money goes out and has to be retrieved by the transaction processor. Rant over.

Yes I agree 100% but as human behavior goes... they will fall sucker to a "deal". And no body likes any body that stands in their way of a fake deal.

I agree with you 100% on the other thread also,

Thx OP for posting this.

Strange they chose an address on Main in Buffalo. It’s unbelievable the lengths scammers will go to.
I’ve been reporting the a-holes on ebay lately that create multiple listings using stock photos of new in box Craftsman socket sets advertised at 29.99 and free shipping from Australia! It was a new seller with 0 feedback. Much to my surprise several of the reported listings were removed almost instantly.

I had dealings with similar stock photo seller before. They immediately canceled my order saying out of stock, and then were very hesitant in refunding my payments. Also very rude about answering questions, and poor English. Listed their ads as located in NYC, but I highly doubt it. They were selling tools and other items from Sears as well.

I prefer to buy tools from a store and in person rather than ordering them online. Maybe I am weird or something, but I like to see exactly what I am getting and I like the idea of taking it home with me.

On occasion I buy stuff from NewEgg or Amazon, but they are large reputable companies and I seriously doubt you would have a problem with them trying to scam you. From time to time you MAY get something that doesn't work and you have to return it and perhaps get a bit of hassle, but other than that they are pretty much hassle free.

Update:

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with PayPal on Saturday (5/19) explaining that the seller had provided a bogus tracking number. The lady I talked to seemed to understand and said she would escalate the claim. Today, I received a message from them that "the seller provided a valid tracking number showing delivery" so my claim was denied.:mad:

Called PayPal again (trying to do anything on their website is an exercise in frustration). This time I asked the guy I talked to to look at the delivery confirmation. (Remember, UPS told me it wasn't my address, but because of "privacy" couldn't tell me where or even send me a letter stating it wasn't delivered to my address) He saw the problem right away and assured me I would get a refund, but still had to "escalate" it. 72 more hours before I hear.

I guess it could be worse, but it is definitely souring me on PayPal.

Damn. The scammers are always one step ahead aren't they? Hopefully PayPal figures it out and it isn't this hard for victims in the future

For the 1000th time ,I will say it but it will probably fall on deaf ears, attach your paypal to your credit card and your credit card protection will supersede paypal protection, meaning you just dispute the charge with the credit card co. ,they will return your money instantly and fight with paypal.

Agree

Paypal will boot you if you do this.

Who cares?

Not true.

Agree, not true- They threaten, but 3 chargebacks later no issues

paypal *****. They will drag it out until people give up.

One caution: KNOW your time limits on filing a chargeback. If paypal dicks you for too long you might miss that window.

Personally I just dont let paypal waste my time

Update - 5/23

After my optimism last night, I got a message from PayPal at 4:08 AM this morning with the same line: "The seller has provided valid tracking information on the above case. As a result, your appeal can not be granted at this time." I called them one more time. The guy this time was pretty intransigent, so I hung up on him and called my credit card company.

I had to drive past a UPS store this morning so I stopped in to ask them about tracking. I learned that about the only thing UPS stores have in common with the brown trucks is the logo. They are stand alone franchisees with no more access to tracking info than we do. The guy there was able to print the delivery confirmation showing the delivery to a neighboring city rather than my own. So, just because I am stubborn and want to try to get PayPal to quit aiding and abetting fraud, I sent them a copy along with links to the reddit and trustpilot review sites that are filling with other people's experiences similar to mine. Even if PayPal continues to bury their heads in their . . . uh, sand, I've got the data to help the CC company if they have trouble.

I will overtly avoid using PayPal from now on.

Thanks for your support.

I have lost confidence in Pay Pal after reading this thread. How can any competent person from Pay Pal not figure out it's a scam when you gave them more than enough evidence?

Your cc company is on your side ,paypal is not,as I've stated above ,why give them any powerwhen your cc protection gives you the simple out.Don't take the fraud against you personal ,use the tools that are in place and move on.

Also, the only reason OP is not totally screwed is that he did this:

DO NOT FUND PAYPAL PAYMENTS WITH A BANK ACCOUNT or PP balance

If you accept money into paypal, sweep it out to the bank account- dont leave it in a paypal balance. Pay for all transactions with a credit card- preferably one that you spend a ton on, who treats you as a valued customer.

(Its been posted above, but im on a mission! :lol_hitti)

That is pretty messed up on Paypal end at least on this case.

Means that the guy that does the investigation is either really lazy or stupid with all the evident smacking on his face and still ignores it or at least verifying it...

Worst part it seems like the OP talked to several people and they all came to the same conclusion. Scary how many people are lazy or stupid at Pay Pal.

Maybe they are just doing what they're told to do. (I have no idea if that's true, but it would explain a lot.)

maybe... there is this level 1 2 3 support thing.. . each level have the ability to make certain decisions and due diligence in investigating the issue..."Supposedly" a bit more competent..... one thing for sure is that they do look at pattern if OP is the only guy that complains.. then they usually take side of the seller(yea remember that miller 211 welder group buy thread..., the first of the buyer was getting the run around till more folks called in on the same seller). ......... I think at this point I would start dealing with the CC company instead, now...but make sure you stress the package was not for the correct address.
