My 2007 Mazda 3 and my 2011 Hyundai Elantra have their airbag lights on. The local O'Reilly's has a scan tool that checks SRS codes but not on these models.

Can anyone recommend reasonably priced scan tool that will get codes on both of these?

the generic codes will be available on the generic readers, but the specific/sub codes are only available on the higher end (and with current subscriptions) tools or dealer only tools.

Dealer will likely be cheaper than the readers and current subscriptions - especially where you have two makers to contend with. You may be able to find an independent shop who specializes in your makes and has enough business to justify the scan tool needed.

Emissions and airbags are just a couple of things the Fed does not want nonqualified people futzing with.

Before I go to the shop (two cars @ $100ea), I'm going to try the Launch EasyDiag 2.0 Plus. It comes with two vehicle downloads and displays on your phone via bluetooth. I'll report back after it fails and I return it for a full refund

I've got an Autel AL619, it's worked well for everything I've needed it for so far. It does ABS codes too and it wasn't too much $$.

I would give the dealer a call , my daughter had the light on her 2005 3, out of warranty. (Seatbelt issue) Mazda fixed it for free.
