I used to own a Snap On Modis but sold it 4 years ago after switching fields.

I don't do side works anymore trying to spend more time with my young sons. Once in a while someone would ask me to help on their cars, most of them are the people whom helped me before, I can't say no. I don't have the time to do it but at least I can point them to the right direction(hopefully) on the repairs.

I have a basic 10 years old Innova, I'd like to upgrade, $250 or less.

I'm not up to date on the scan tools, is the Innova Pro 31703 a decent one?

what's your pick.

Went through this a few months ago. Got an Autel MD802 All System on Ebay for $225, very happy with it, very capable for the price. I do quite a bit of airbag and restraint work, has really come in handy.

X2 autel scanners are great for the price. Mine doesn't have abs or airbag but does all p codes & even manufacturer specific & live data for $60. I'd definitely buy from them again if I needed those functions.

Good, thanks, I hope the Matco would be here some time this week.

I own an Actron CP9690, a bluedriver as well as an innova 3160B. Overall, the bluedriver reads more modules than the other two. The live data on the actron is the fastest updating and it can also test the charging system and reset oil lights. Both the bluedriver and the actron can show you possible causes for the issue as well as fixes. if I had to choose one, i'd choose the bluedriver. The only downfall is you need an android or apple device to use it.

Bought this same scanner from this same seller. It works great. It was burned in 2013, but can be updated online. That's why they're so cheap because they're old stock. I have used mine on 2012 Nissan Frontier, 1998 GMC Sierra, 2006 Jeep Cherokee, 2007 Chevy Trailblazer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-MATCO-MD-...:g:29kAAOSwFqJWjTx6&item=361463027566&vxp=mtr

Have you actually updated it yet? The reviews on the matco website have complaints about it not updating anymore.

+1 on the Autel MD802. It has been very handy in helping me troubleshoot my own car as well as others.

So far it has been able to read everything I needed it to. Examples are: SRS (and light reset) on Porsche, read all modules on my 2001 BMW (it showed me the DME Auxilliary fan code that did not trigger the CEL), VSC on a 2006 Lexus, etc.

I've been very happy with it so far. But some of the bluetooth units appear to be nicer because of the configurable interface (especially when graphing live data) and bigger screen, but the Autel has been very capable.

I find any of the Bluetooth ones I've used including my blue driver are a bit behind on live data when it comes to graphing.
