Scary Compressor

This bizarre beast showed up on C/L:

It has a decent looking IR pump on it, that may be worth the $200 he wants for the whole thing, and the motor may be good, but the tank is scary as hell and the trailer and tank need to be scrapped.

Look at the good side. When driving home with it, if you accidently drive off the road into some water, it will probably float, trailer and all!

Yeah, but will it float pump side up, or pump side down? Looks like that pump has more metal in it than the trailer.

The tank looks like it washed up from Japan or was lost from a fishing trawler! By the quality of the construction, I doubt its a home built. The attention to detail on the OHSA approved belt guard is a giveaway.

I have the means to hydro test it.

If it were me, I would test it and run it as a sand blast compressor depending on how long it took to fill up.

It's not even shaped like a proprer pressure vessel . . . It's got FLAT ends and looks like seam weld across belly . . . . RUN, RUN, RUN !!!

+1 for Steevo to save that pump & motor and scrap the rest.
