Schedule 80 vs schedule 40

I am close to pouring the slab for my new shop. I plan to use mhf and run it through
1 1/2 inch conduit. When shopping for the schedule 80 I can find the 180 but all the straight is schedule 40. Where am I required to have schedule 80. Do I need it underground or just in the Slab? Can I use schedule 40 in the wall to the load center.
Help appreciated.

You only need SCH 80 where the conduit is subject to physical damage.

I had to get my schedule 80 from a local electrical supply house (Cooper) it was reasonably priced @ $12 or so for 2 1/2 x 10 ft.
Only able to get schedule 40 lengths from Lowes/H-depot

1 1/2" is fine....and so is the sch 40....but.....for the minimal cost, bump it up to 2". It will make the pull a whole lot easier.

Are you going to do a Ufer ground? Now is the time to put it in.

Agree to both. Bump to 2" AND the ufer

A ufer is a easy, easy thing - basically a piece of rebar that comes out of the slab or stem wall that allows attachment of the ground. I remember my first one: "that's it?!?! Only that? No pounding of rods into the ground, bending them, restarting, all that BS"???

Ufer is already done. I couldn't spell ufer before this board and now I have one. I had to show the concrete guys what it was they had never done one. I went with the 1 1/2 inch because it is a 2x4 wall and didnt want to risk not leaving enough of the sill plate. So I am I ok to use my sch 80 180 under the form and sch 40 straight pieces up through the stem wall to the sub panel?
