I'm looking to tile my office and was wondering if anyone has used this type of product when installing tile?

I’ve used their Kerdi waterproofing membrane in my custom shower and their Ditra decoupling mat in two bathrooms.
Seems to be a great product. My primary use is trying to provide some “give” to help reduce cracking of tiles installed over wood floor structure (Ditra) and bonus(!) you gain waterproofing in the process.

I used the thicker (5/16?) Ditra in my master bath over a 3/4" Advantech subfloor. I used 12 x 12 tile over it. I'm amazed at how much it stiffened up the floor- it feels like a concrete slab now. After 5 years, no cracks; not even in the grout. Another happy accident is that it raised the surface of the tile to be exactly even with my 3/4" wood floors for a perfect transition.

Used it on an addition mudroom that was on piers . Worried about the possibility of movement. Used natural slate. No grout cracks anywhere. Good product. Also on a large area on an older house with wider joist spacing. 18x18 tiles. Again no cracks or grout issues.

I've done 2 bathrooms and 1 entryway using Schluter products. They ain't cheap, but I think they're solid products.

Bathrooms were done with Ditra and Kerdi. I'm obsessive about water damage, so I wanted a completely waterproof installation. It was a lot of work, but worth the effort.

My entryway was done to replace a prior installation of leveling compound and tile right on top of hardwood. That didn't hold up so well. I used a plywood subfloor with Ditra. So far it's holding up well.

My kitchen was done before these products existed. Some tiles cracked, so I tore it all out.

I have used Kerdi and Ditra and the install went great. If you want to know how well it performs after 50 yrs you will have to ask my heirs. I won’t be around.

The company had their 50th anniversary in 2016 so you would hope they got it figured out.

I used it and if you follow the instructions it works and I will use it again.

I used the larger Ditra XL in my previous house in a 400 square foot kitchen/dining room/laundry room tile job. The install (my first tile job!) went really well and held up for the 5 years I continued to own the house with absolutely no cracks, no creaking, no problems. You will be using a -lot- of thinset. A thin layer on the subfloor to set the Ditra into, and then all of those little waffle depressions in the stuff get filled with thinset, then the layer of thinset onto which you place the tile (and back-buttered tiles if they are larger format). A real forearm workout!

BTW- I don't know if he's still around, but there was a guy selling Ditra on ebay in cut lengths, so you don't have to buy a whole roll of that rather expensive stuff. I bought exactly what I needed for the same price sq/ft of a full roll.

You can also buy in 3x5 sheets, which is how I did my bathroom.

I did my bathroom floor with the Ditra product probably 15 years ago. Stone tile over decking. Worked fantastically and never had a crack anywhere. I'd use it again in a heartbeat.

I've done two second story bathrooms with ditra. They have been in service for less than 5 years, but their holding up great.

I am now in the middle of a custom shower and am using their kerdi membrane/shower pan and curb kit. It went in easy and just passed the flood test for 24 hours with flying colors. It cost more but I feel the insurance from shifting substrates causing tile/grout damage to be worth it.
