Snap On Says COO is USA, for the price you may want to wait and look at the new IR that is coming out next month, says it has 780 ft-lbf of torque.

Of the two Bosch's, one uses a ring to keep the socket on, the second one uses a ball like a socket does. The one with a ball also has 200 more impacts/min. Look at their specs on the Bosch website.

I don't own any cordless Bosch tools but like my others. (Jig saw & laminate router.)

I have a 1/4 Milwaukee cordless impact that is great. I would like at this one of theirs.

Here is a page with all their cordless impacts, big and small:

I have the Bosch 1/2 with retaining ring. It has excellent power and has served me very well. I chose it over the snap-on because of price and warranty. I got a very good price on the bare tool and the warranty is 3 years. I suspect the snap on may have a bit more power, but the bosch is still extremely capable. Battery capacity is quite good.

I really love my 3/8 Milwaukee, I believe it makes around 135 ft-lbf of torque, works well for small fastners. I'm currently shopping for a 1/2 gun.

I'm looking to use the impact for lug nuts, brake parts, axle nuts.. Anything that will be rusty and hard to unfasten. once I get the impact I'll be getting torque sticks and all that stuff.. I got a job in a shop and for now I don't need to bring any tools in but by the time school is over (June) I hope to be actually turning wrenches all day.

The Bosch tool is "Assembled in the USA"
How do you know which models are "Assembled in the USA?"

I was looking at some smaller ones recently, and they were made in Malaysia, IIRC.

The Snap-On is probably "assembled in the USA." All the ones I've seen were not made in the USA.

EDIT- Monte beat me to it.

The one with NiCad batteries (CT6850) are the older models. The current one comes with li-ion, but man are they expensive!!

Best bang of the buck is the Milwaukee M18 (full size, not compact). There was never a bolt I had that the Milwaukee couldn't take off that my Snap On did. Not to mention it comes with li-ion batteries too.

I have the Milwaukee 2663. Great impact.

The old Ingersoll Rand 360 was a little under powered, but IR has just come out with the W7150 & supposedly it's a b%$$buster:

Note in above vid, though, that Snap On has come out with its new 7850 1/2" impact, albeit at a pretty penny, though I think that except for the battery & charger, it's still made in USA.

I have a 20V DeWalt and I love it. I use it every day at work and it does everything I want it to.

The new Ingersoll Rand W7150 impact:

Weighing in at only 6.8 lbs and measuring 9.4″ from tip to tail, the Ingersoll Rand W7150 1/2" High-Torque Cordless Impactool features a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio; offering an impressive 780 ft/lbs reverse torque, and 1,100 ft/lbs nut-busting torque. The W7150 features a completely re-engineered high-power rare earth magnet motor, a steel-lined aluminum hammer case and a chemical-resistant, patent-pending metal reinforced housing for maximum durability. The sleek cordless impact also features a robust, all-metal drive train and hammer mechanism.

if you are in school and can get a student discount, buy the snap on if it is part of the discount program.

if not I would try the bosch or milwaukee because the warranty is much better than the snap on.

How's that possible when Dewalt doesn't yet make a 20V impact wrench?

I've got the 14.4V dewalt (which will need some help with a breaker bar to break the lugs free), but I like it..It really is nice to raise the scissor jack, p and down..I bought it off of Craigslist for like $100...

I'm test driving some sort of Snap-On 3/8 right now.

I'm amazed at how handy it is.

Yeah, gonna sell my soul to the son of the anti-Christ and put it on Snap-On credit...

Damn chrome crack dealers.
