Was at a CL find yesterday but didn't grab any of these. Hundreds of tools (wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc.) that were Herbrand. I'm no expert, nor had I ever even heard of them. Any good? Value?

Thanks, Todd

Herbrand was a very good brand that was somewhat de-graded after the Triangle acquisition, so it depends on the era of the tools.

Read the AA article for LOTS of info...

I happened upon this tool box and it had quite a few hand tools.

From a tool box perspective this is one of the stoutest I own. I don't feel they have the recognition of other companies but I feel that Herbrand was a once proud quality brand.

So I read the article. I recall most sockets had no knurling, and the Herbrand in script, which would put them in the 50's - 70's range. Probably 200 + sockets, 50 or so wrenches, and a bunch of chisels, screwdrivers, punches, etc. think they're worth snagging for $50-75?

Herbrand were pretty good quality. Sometime around 2001 or so, after they went out of business, I brought a new, unopened 1/2 inch metric socket set 10 to 32 mm complete (all sizes) for $35 at a flea market. The seller had many boxes of these for sale. I use many of the common sockets daily. I wish I had bought a second set....just because!

Last month there was an eBay dealer selling NOS Herbrand three wrench sets of flare nut wrenches pretty cheap.

Ebay search is all over the place. 3 wrenches (used) for $80, complete 11 pc. socket set $19, and on and on. Hard to get a handle on value. Seems kinda sparse though, only 21 "Herbrand set" listings.

If you need them, get them.....they are quality wrenches. If you're going to put them in a drawer and forget them, I'd pass.

I just listed a great little ratchet on ebay - item # 132161287366
My question is that someone asked me where it was made and my research indicates that it could be Ohio or S. Carolina or even Canada? What do I tell the person asking?
It was a personal ratchet of mine for over 35 years and I got it at an estate sale of an old guy - now I am the "old guy" selling mine!

Did they ever make a metric crow's foot set? I've got a 21mm 12pt that's handled a lot of IR231 impacting

So how does Herbrand stack up with Bonney??
