Hi,
I'm seeking some advice from the forum. I'm now shopping for an older, 2-3hp, 220V, 30 gallon USA made compressor. They seem to be of stout build and put out the most air for the size. Been poking around CL, and have found intriuging ads on "Charge Pro" and "Rand 4000" compressors, made by IR. Prices are attractive, $100-200. A google search reveals this:

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml02/02108.html

I called a guy who was the original owner, bought it in 1991, and still had the original owners manual. His compressor falls in the recall.

Should I be concerned? 11 failed compressors out of probably thousands sold. What would you do?

Seems like a fair deal.

I love the wording in the recall notice:
"unexpectedly rupture allowing pressurized air to suddenly and forcefully escape"
In other words . . . BANG! EXPLOSION!
