I also have 2 assortments of orings that I picked up one day in the clearance rack at Tractor Supply. I also have tried to use them to repair the pull down sprayer on a Delta faucet. I have had no luck in that regard. Apparently there are an infinite (plus one) number of possible sizes for orings.
Also, the ones I have break easily. Maybe they are old.
I understand that's no help other than to say I feel your pain.

I usually just buy the rebuild parts from the manufacturer as they aren’t that expensive.
Agreed but I never walk out of the store completely sure that I’ve bought the right kit. Having a supply of rings was my answer, or so I had hoped. I guess the final answer is that o-rings aren’t as standardized as bolts.

The sets you bought are more for hydraulic or fuel o-ring replacements, not water faucets. But put them on the shelf and someday they may save you a trip to the store for some unforseen, unknown problem. You'll be a hero.

I had the same issue on my Harley fuel disconnect one year. It was a Viton specific size. Took forever to match but finally got it instead of buying the whole hose assemly. Delta does use a proprietary size to make it easy to find for sure.

O-rings come in many standard sizes, just as SAE, JIS, and DIN fasteners do. However there are thousands of fasteners that are not to those standards and unique/proprietary to the device they are on.

Just remember that standards are so important that everyone should have their own....

O rings, also known as Pre Formed packings are classified by physical size, shape (some have square corners and are known as Quad Rings) and composition. Buna Rubber and Silicone are relatively common.
