I have a schrader valve tap coming in this week. But I need the drill size for it. Google doesn't seem to be much help. Any info would be greatly helpful. Thanks, Larry

Fwiw, this is for a tool to make working on bike shocks easier.

Are you talking about the little valve you take out of a valve stem on a tire? If so what size is the tap you are getting?

Not sure exactly what you're doing since I'm not a motorcycle guy but I've used these screw in schrader valves for projects before. They come in 1/8" and 1/4" NPT threads. Not sure if that helps with your project or not but thought I would throw it out there.

The threads that are purple are what the tool is for. It's going to thread ontp them to pull that whole green cap out of a rear shock. Since there's no where to grab it, this is the only way to remove it.

"The external thread size of a Schrader valve is 0.305 inches outer diameter by 32 threads per inch (TPI), and it has a thread root diameter of 0.302 inches outer diameter. The valve also has an internal thread of 0.209 inches outer diameter by 36 TPI. If no taps and dies of 0.305 inches are available, then 0.302 inch taps and dies are suitable replacements."

Doesn't quite answer your question, but you should be able to figure something out with the data.

Did you consider using a metal valve extender?

Tap drill = thread diameter minus (1 divided by thread pitch)
Your tap drill should be letter drill I (.272”)
Thanks! I was wondering if there was a formula like that. I'll try an "I" and see how it goes. Thanks again!

What kind of rear shock is that, I don't recognize it? DVO maybe?
DVO topaz! The guys there are great to deal with. I got the custom tune last year. It's great cause it does what I wanted my Rockshit to do that I had custom tuned by Avalanche. That shock never did what I wanted it to do and Craig @avalanche wasn't too great to deal with either.

What's your ride?

I have a 2016 Niner WFO with a Pike and a Monarch RC3, a 2020 Nukeproof Scout 27.5 with a Cane Creek Helm, and I just finished up a new Vitus Escarpe 27.5 with Fox Factory 36 and a Factory DPS. Haven't had the chance to ride it yet, cause I've been laid up with back problems. I'd actually really like to try a DVO shock package as I've only ever heard good things. I'm over maintaining Rockshox; they don't seal worth **** and I feel like they suffer from seal stiction way too quickly. The Helm is awesome, and I would buy another in a heartbeat. I only went Fox on the new bike because it's exactly what my wife rides, so it makes maintenance easier on me.

My buddy has the Scout and loves it. I have a Ragley Blue Pig 27.5, 150mm and it brought me back to why I love riding!

The DVO is on my 2017 Devinci Spartan.

My other ride is a Devinci Wilson. All are 27.5

I've been going all 27.5". I'm short, so the 29" wheels make it hard for me to bail off when things go wrong. I got the Scout and just liked how much more "playful" the 27.5" wheels were also. I think I'd go 29" for a more XC bike, but I'm too fat for that.
