I am acquiring a 76 vette from my wife's uncle. Gonna do a little restoration and looking to get a scissor lift with open center section. It will be recessed in concrete. Ideally I would love for it to be outside because I only have a 1 car garage, currently has my woodworking setup and my 2010 2ss/rs.

If I can't put the lift outside it will go outside. Key issues if it has to be indie garage is placement and height. If it has to go inside my garage door will have to be modified somehow so I can lift car with door open.

I will post pics of my garage soon, snowing here in NY.

what scissor lift would you recommend and is it feasible to have the lift outside and control assembly stored in garage?

Thx

Call BendPak and get their thoughts on leaving the MD6-XP outside - they are pretty helpful on the phone. It is going to rust, but might last a long long time. The hydraulic line is pretty long, but you might want to get a longer one so ask about that too.

How low is the vette? The lift is 4.5" high when fully down, so you may need ramps to drive over it.

We have 2 Rotary scissor lifts at school, they're wide open in the middle and work really well.....

No idea about having them outside, but for sure I'd provide good drainage in the pit if you recess it into the floor.

If i have to i would create a ledge for 3/4" exterior plywood to cover the lift, and have the pkywood flush or use a different material to cover them
