The wall in our master bedroom has two sconce lights on either side of where the headboard would be. They are too low as the bottoms of the lights would need to be ~7" higher to clear the top of the headboard and I need to figure out how I could move them without tearing up the wall. Cutting the headboard down is not an option, moving them farther apart is not an option.
The lights appear to be better quality stuff found in a production built house and they match many other fixtures so replacing with different lights, while isn't out of the question, would be an undesirable option.
What I'm envisioning is some kind of an escutcheon plate that would fully cover the wall box and the area directly behind each fixture but project from the wall only ~3/8" carrying the wires up to the fixture. I can easily make something from wood but in the extremely unlikely event that a fire occurred, I'm sure any insurance company would be quick to deny any claim so that's likely not an option.
Has anyone run into a similar situation and found an acceptable solution?
