Hi there
I am new to the forum and have been doing a little reading and found alot of good info. I do have a question.

Are all williams tools made in the usa or eastern europe? I'm sorry but i can't stand to buy anything from china or taiwan if i can help it. I was looking at getting some S-K ratcheting wrenches and found out they were made in taiwan. Are williams wrenches the same way?

Thanks

Stroh

P.S. Toolmaker by trade for the last 17 years. I'm a little fussy about what tools I buy.

Depends on which tools you want. If you look at the Williams website and go into their online catalog, it will have an American flag and say USA under the tool list of that respective tool line. If it doesn't have that, then it is made in Taiwan or somewhere else.

Not only S-K but 95% of ratchet wrenches are made in taiwan! That goes for Snap ON, Cornwell, Mac and possibly Matco. I think Craftsman has some that are U.S. made! Some of williams tools are made in taiwan so you have to be careful!
P.S. Welcome to the forums!!

I think the SOs are of the "assembled in the US of US and Global components" category. Not positive though. As for the Matco, unless they have changed, the Pro-swing double-box end ratcheting wrenches, and Pro-swing combo ratcheting wrenches are USA made. This goes for the Armstrong versions of these wrenches as well. However, I think the newer extra-long ratcheting boxends are just the re-badged Gearwrenches.

Here's the Armstrong's (the Matco pro-swings are the exact same):

Spoke to soon I guess :bounce: I haven't seen a Matco truck in so long I forgot what one looks like. I guess I could be wrong on the Snap On, A friend at work just bought some from Snappie so I will have a look see. I know my blue points say taiwan on them. I figured since danaher makes matco, armstrong, and gear wrench they were all the same. Thanks for setting me straight

I believe all the ratcheting wrench guts are from taiwan, I think they hold the patent. My snap on driver said the snap on wrench is made in the usa but the ratcheting parts are imported and assembled here.

Armstrong are supposed to be all US made. The military is supposed to be using them. I had a set that said made in the USA with no disclaimers. They were fine.

Armstrong is generally good stuff. Same as Craftsman PRofessional in most cases.

With Williams, if it doesn't say made in USA, then it ain't! But, that doesn't mean it isn't a decent tool. Use your head when making your purchases...

I bought a set of williams wrenches, and found out they were not USA made.. I was disappointed. But I've been using them, and they have been great ! Also, some williams tools are made in South America somewhere.
