Scored a $1 ratcheting screwdriver!

So last weekend I'm at the flea market looking for SO tools basically and I hit up this regular seller's booth. He's usually overpriced on truck brand tools but once in awhile he'll sell something cheap or he has something I really want.
I look around and see a ratcheting screwdriver handle only no shank or ratcheting mechanism. It had an end cap so I figure it's worth a $1 to me. I ask the guy and he says gimme a $1. No problem. I figure I could get the parts to fix it back up or at least keep that end cap. I ask my dealer today about parts for it and he takes it out of my hand and says he'll replace it with a new one. I tell him I bought it at the flea market for a $1 and he says no problem it's Snap On I'll replace it. Blown away!
The handle was black but he gave me a choice on the replacement. Got a grey one.

I think I'm up to about 5-6 of these things now.

I wish I had some sweet flea markets around here. The ones I go to look like they literally picked through someones garbage.

I got my Snap-On for free with like 6 bits My boss gave it to me after I said I dont like ratcheting screwdrivers. He said "Have you ever used a Snap-On one? Ill bring one in for you." When I tried to give it back, he said it was mine.

Like charley1, I just started using ratcheting screwdrivers. I recently picked up a cheap Husky stubby that worked well on a quick electrical job today.

I was looking at a cman one today with 25 bits. It felt cheap though so I put it back.

Any recommendations?

The best racheting screwdriver out there is the MAC Overdriver Pro. It has planetary gears that give you four to one output when you want it. Too bad it isn't made anymore. I would go with the snap-on. Best one on the market right now.

well i have a gearless Cornwell that i really like. i ask my dealer if they were strong. he didn't know. so i bought one with the intention of breaking it. it hasn't yet. $18 off the truck.

i hate to use the word 'plastic', but it is a hollow plastic handle with bit storage in the end. very comfortable with plenty of grip area.

Nice job! I always think the ball shape handle would be the most comfortable for the ratcheting screwdriver. I am glad I am not the only one except that I am not as handy and creative.

yes it is a different handle than any of their other tools and screwdrivers. as far as COO, the website doesn't say and it is not printed on the tool that i can recall. i'll have to look for sure.

I've used just about every ratcheting one out there and the SO one is the best IMO. The Mac to me feels cheap compared to SO's. I think I have handled the Cornwell but I didn't like the sprag clutch design (doesn't make the ratchet noise when using it and doesn't "feel" right)

The EASYDRIVER ball was old and WELLLLLLL used. Figured it couldn't hurt to cut it apart and meld the two tools. Works great! Plus, I took pics of the insides of the ball so now I know how the EASYDRIVER works!
