They should work well in AZ. Here in Jawja (Thats Georgia for you educated folks) its way too humid in the summer and they don't work well, and simply add to the humidity. They need a dry climate like you have for the water to evaporate and cool the air, just doesn't happen here. I have a neighbor who had more money than good sense, and bought one, and discovered it don't work here.
Good score. They work OK here in west Texas because it's dry, better in MN and AZ. Had one in an apartment in Fort Worth but it gets more humid there. I'd put 10lb bags of ice in it in summer to try and get some "cool" out of it. Whether it works well is a regional/climate thing. They work best with fresh pads installed and make sure the drip tube holes are all clear.
