A school that I taught at for many years is being torn down. I always admired the stainless steel work table in the cafeteria, and it is finally mine! Some of the items in the school were up for auction, I got it for $150. Looking forward to seeing it in my garage!

I have several of these tables in my shop. Some on this Journal have the opinion that these are too flimsy for heavy work. I am in agreement with that if you were to be rebuilding heavy engines etc. but for general work they are extremely helpful because they are so easy to clean. They are so readily available in so many different sizes at auctions Covering closed restaurants that the selection can be used for any shop.

Nice find! I bid on a few at a local warehouse auction but they went higher than I wanted to pay. They definitely make a nice general purpose workbench.

Congrats. That is a nice trans. tear down table.
I mean, what are your plans for it?

I had an old wooden workbench in my attached garage when I bought my house. I finally took a sledgehammer to it about a month ago. (Protip: Don't tear out your workbench until you have one to replace it with) This will just be my general workbench, it's definitely capable of anything I will throw at it. I bought this gladiator workbench, and I also bought 2 sets of these same legs with no top and was deciding on a butcher block or a stainless top for it. I may just save those for the detached garage I'm planning to build this summer.

I have a bright idea for finishing my garage walls, but want to wait until I buy all the product I need at auction first ;) Now I just need to find the time to work on the garage.

Keep an eye out for old elevator doors. They replace them often and normally you can get them for cheap or free. It is a steel core frame covered in stainless steel. heavy as hell but strong and durable.

Awesome score. I picked up a 6' rolling stainless steel table a few years ago. My wifes work was pitching it. she called me and said "get over here NOW, before the boss throws it in the dumpster."

good score, working in kitchens i always thought they would make a good teardown table, easy to clean when done, but some do need reinforcement for heavy items.

This is an older table, this thing is HEAVY, it's not one of the newer ones with thin metal. I will definitely use the bottom shelf for storage. I pick it up this week, It would be awesome if I could fit a HF box on one side, and move both drawers to the other side.
