I guy I know was trying to sell me some rebar a few years ago. I didn't need it then, but recently ran into him at the local burger joint and asked if he still had it. He said he did, and he'd give a really good deal on. I wasn't sure how much he had or how much he wanted for it, but I met up with him this morning and looked at it. I'd say there's about 200 or so pieces that are roughly 20ft long. It was a variety of 1/2" - 1". I asked how much he wanted for it, he said 50 bucks if I didn't ask him to help load it. Done deal!

I was thinking the same thing. I could use one piece for misc welding projects but the rest would just sit around in my yard. LOL But if you need it for an addition, walkway, etc it's a good deal.

When I did my side walk I loaded it with rebar. 30 feet long, no expansion joints, and one crack that has no offset.

A lot of commercial rebar cost is in the labor. Bending, tying, supporting. If DIY the labor is not a cost, it is entertainment.

Pour a slab. Put all the rebar in it. Make a bunker underneath.

My father who worked for US Steel and sold tonage of rebar used to say there were two grades of rebar. Rebar that was guaranteed to sink in water and rebar that wasn't even guaranteed to do that.

It sounds like a steal if its not supremely rusty and you have a use for it :)

Sticker it up on wooden blocks and put under a tarp if its going to be awhile.

I'm hoping to build my house next spring, figured it'd help save me some money. I bought some property from a friend last spring that has a the well, septic, and sewer on it... trying to get the house build and totally paid for within 7 years. I'm going to 33 this summer, I want absolutely no debt by time I'm forty.

You have a good plan but you need to make sure the septic is good to go and approved for the size of house you are building.

Lol I meant well, septic, electric. I called the county, the lady said the septic is approved for a 3 br. She said if I wanted more bedrooms to just leave out the closets and call them an office or library.

So I went out and picked it up this morning. My uncle was suppose to go with me and help me load it, but he bailed... that sucked! I'd say there's closer to 100 pieces rather than 200, but I havent took inventory yet, but I'm happy for 50 bucks. It's a mix of 1/2" to 1" mostly 20ft pieces.
