Scored some nice stuff this past weekend:Part 2

Back in October I hit up an old suto repair shop which had been closed for quite some time. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=373539
I had gone back a few times but the lady is desperate and needs to clean out the garages for the sale of the home. A few buddies and I went back this past week/weekend and scored some nice stuff I had my eye on.

-4 Dorman cabinets FILLED with hardware and miscellaneous NOS parts.
-Green SK empty box and Proto empty box (Box 4029?)
-Snap On insulated Nut Driver Set
-Proto nut driver set
-LTI lockout set-brand new
-Blue Point tap and die set in wood box-the tap handle is broken but this appears to be very old and the box was too cool to leave behind.
-Ace Hanson Tap and Die set complete-appears almost new.

Here's the rest. I grabbed the Wagner Brake, AC Delco, NAPA, and Sun cabinets for $165. I'm going to use the Sun cabinet as a rolling metal working cart after I put a steel plate on top. The cabinets are in nice shape. They will need a lot of elbow grease but will clean up nice. Any info on dates would be appreciated.

-The anvil has no markings on it but its HEAVY-$50
-3 drawer SO box-$30
-And the best piece in my opinion is the Snap-On KR-61A tool box. It's in awesome shape. Some surface rust but the inside drawers on the bottom box are like brand new. I'm trying to get a date on this and what a good price would be for it. I'm keeping it but I was worried I paid too much at $350. I may restore it or just leave it as is.

Wow, thats a nice thing you got going there. Gotta love it when you can scoop up that much for reasonable prices. I had a club I was involved in at the university I went to that had to relocate to a new building and they basically liquidated the shop and most of the tools. The amount of stuff I dragged back to my apartment was unreal.

With the selection you are looking at, Im surprised she wasn't having an auction to avoid any hassle.

She had a TON of stuff when I first went. It was originally a CL ad. She had a few stragglers in and out of there but she kept saying no one wanted to pay anything. I was scoring SO/MAC/PROTO tools for $3, $5 etc. I can't imagine how much cheaper people would want it. I ended up bringing in a few mechanic friends and we all put a nice dent in the stash but there is still a lot of stuff there.

quite a haul...was the lady selling her ex-husband's stuff or was she the shop owner?

The father of her deceased husband AKA father-in-law. Husband was left the house then recently passed in an accident and she was tasked to get rid of the stuff before selling the house.

I think you did great on the snap on box, Here in Central Washington that would be a great price for it.

Nah! You overpaid! Most here on GJ will tell you those old friction slide boxes are antique junk and not worth hauling home. (I repeat their opinions so the prices will stay low and I can pick up more of them.)

Wipe it down with WD40, lube the slides and use it for a while. You can always decide to restore it, but JHMO, after having done a few, I'll never put in the time to restore another box. Too many square inches and too many corners.
