I've been looking for awhile for one of these! Picked up this 33 drawer unit today! Seems like everyone I find is covered in rust! Can't wait to get it loaded! They wanted $140. I paid $100. Seems fair...

Roughly 38" high 30" wide and about 14" deep! Perfect for all those small items that you can never find!

Nice! Good score. I picked up one that looks just like yours last year for $75, the owner was asking $100. Mine doesn't have drawer slides but is just a friction slide. I took each drawer out and put some all purpose grease along each drawer bottom and on the track it sits in and it works great. One of the better deals I have found.

Mine are friction slide as well. Good call on the grease! I will definitely do that. Thanks!

I have a similar one, but not near as nice as yours. I can't complain, because it was free. I would have paid $100 for the one you have, too.

I'm pretty excited about the cabinet! Does anyone know what the "key hole" slots are for on the front bottom rail?

When you mentioned this, I went and looked at mine and it also has those keyholes. Mine is a Challenger brand cabinet. I don't know what they are either.

I'm wondering if there was some sort of elevated base that came with these cabinets? Since the key holes are going down, if the cabinet was moved it would keep them from separating.

I'm fairly certain it is for a locking front bar/frame. Between the hole in the top rail center; and the keys in that position it keeps the bars in position. Covering the edges of the drawer and preventing them from being opened. Hence their location at the joints of the drawer edges.

I think I will build a platform under it and bring it up a little. Maybe to the bottom of the window.

I have one the same, got it for free from an old friend that was in the eye glass business. they used them to store lenses in. I could have had more but never got around to it. Mine is not as good condition, it needed some reapirs along the bottom skirt due to rusted. Not sure what the elongated holes were for , unless as mentioned some sort of locking mechanism in conjunction with the hole top center?

Jeep51,

That is what I did with mine. I didn't have a window to worry about so I simply made a stand high enough so I could open the top drawer and look inside without trying to break my neck. I made a 2x4 frame and plywood for the shelves and top. As it turned out I was able to have room for a couple of shelves underneath. I put casters on the bottom. No need to move it often but if I need to change things around it will make it easier.

I made the shelves to fit some containers I already had. Store some of the bigger things I have in there. The cabinet I use for some of the lightweight stuff. Such things as sandpaper, foam brushes, Scotch Brite pads, and a ton of nuts, bolts, screw washers..etc, that I only have a few of and don't want to get rid of them. The larger quantity items and heavier things are in a IBM card file cabinet filled with bins.

Laugh at this if you want but I went the cheap route when I was looking for containers and bins for it. I used 4oz fruit cups in some of the drawers.:bounce: In mine I can get 15 cups per drawer. Some of them only have one or two of something in there, but has saved me more than a few trips to the store for what I needed. They are clear and easy to see what's in them. Of course I could just scuff them up and a couple of shots of paint out of a rattle can would give them a new look, but it works for me.

When I needed some bigger bins, I used the ones from Harbor Freight, # 41949. I caught them on sale for like $9.99 and then still used a 20% off coupon. I think they are on sale right now. This is for a box of 20. They will just clear when you slide a drawer in. I can get 6 of these in a drawer. There is some room left and they move around a little so I got some foam pipe insulation and cut some pieces the length of the drawer (front to back) and moved the bins to each side and put the piece of insulation between the bins and it works great. They don't move. Well a couple of ideas for you. I did notice upon looking at your cabinet, mine is a little different, although it looks like the same color. Mine is like the one coljar has, 30 drawers instead of 33, and has drawer handles like his. Don't let it fool you, the cabinet will fill up quickly. but a fun project to do. Sorry I don't have a pic.

Good info "dragracer98"! I measured mine tonight and my drawers are 2 3/4" tall. I love the idea of the little cups or bins to keep things organized. I need to keep an eye out for something practical that will fit. Thanks again. I may relocate the bin so I can utilize the space under it when I build a platform.
