A machine shop about an hour away had these - picked the Wilton 8300N up for $20 and the Columbian 504 1/2 for $10. Obviously I’m very happy. The Wilton is minus the two pins that allow it to swivel. Are these available anywhere and what is proper name?

Also bought a NuSteel tool chest 41x62.75x17.5” with some tools inside for $250, and five 5-ton Jack stands for $30.

Allow me to be the first to award you the coveted GJ compliment...”you ****”.

Was that an auction where nobody showed up? How can anybody associated or familiar in any way with machine tools price a Wilton machinist vise of ANY size for just twenty bucks?????

(BTW, if it has a swivel base it’s the S model and without it’s an N model.)

Thanks- as I was posting I figured a “you ****” was due! Lol

So the owner of the shop passed and his wife has a friend of the late husband selling everything- it is a very overwhelming situation and I made the offer for the Wilton first - quickly accepted. The Columbian - the lady says- give me $10...
This stuff never happens to me, fwiw.

the Wilton does seem to have a swivel base but seems it’s missing the small pins/levers - the number on it is 8300N though. There are bolts in their place - I’ll have to get better pics tomorrow

It’s missing the lock down hardware...not a big deal!
Sometimes those long handles get in the way. Unless it bothers you a lot, just leave the nuts and bolts. How often do you actually unlock and swivel a vise anyway? Just hang a spare appropriately sized combination wrench on a hook nearby and go on to another problem.

If you want it to look better, substitute a stainless steel acorn nut.
That’s what I did when I repainted this C1 that came to me without swivel lock down hardware.

I wondered why the barometer next to the computer started dropping when I tuned into this thread. There is definitely suckage going on here!

Major suckage on the vises. You can fab the swivel locks pretty easily, the bolts are standard carriage bolts. The nuts & cross bars are just round bar stock, I've made at least a dozen over the years. You can always use threaded rod couplers for the nuts
