Gell: impressive if you are doing all or most of the work yourself. pretty steep roof line so do you get snow or did you want to have the loft or attic area for a lot of storage?

WELL DONE!!

BTW a lot of guys don't make a plan on how to fill it up and if you haven't you might because it's easy to just start filling it up and very hard to pull everything out and start over. make a plan if you don't already have one and also add lots of extra lights and electrical cause we can always use more or some plans change in the years to follow.

good luck

Pretty common to have a steep pitch here in the UK, we have a lot of flat roof garages but if your going to spend the extra on a pitch you may as well go steep enough for a decent loft. We don't use shingles here so if you want a low pitch you pretty much have to use metal.
I don't get much snow where I am down south but lots of Scotland would expect some every year.

Planning said I had to have 45 degree pitch for snow get quite a lot here in winter. Wanted a big attic for store and man cave anyway. Have got a layout planned out in my head but will have to get it down on paper. Won't be doing much inside till council come give me completion certificate.

Very nice job Gillan! What are you going to keep inside? What are the dimensions? I find it interesting you went with wood frame construction. Most garage builds I've seen from your side of the pond seem to be all masonry in one form or another.

Went with timber frame as I could build it myself save some money. Plus prefer the look of wooden finish. Will be building a hillclimb/sprint car when it's done.

It's 11mtrs x 6.5mtrs

Gellen: what do Scottish car buffs use for heat in their garages in the winter? gas, wood, electric, pellet or do tell? or do you just dress warmer and work out there in the cold knowing that at least you will be dry?

looks great so far and WELL DONE doing it on your own.

Got the front cladded. Been a lot of rain here and gets dark at 6 so no got much done. Have bought some cheap tool boxes to build into work bench. Something to do at night when it's dark.

GELLEN: i'm guessing your weather is a lot like here in Seattle, but maybe yours is a bit colder like in the mountains about an hour from us. I'm also not a huge fan of short days, but good to see you are almost done with all the outside work.

there are a ton of bench with tool box builds to look at if you need ideas or if you already have a plan take lots of pictures and show us your version when you have time.

best of luck finishing up the outside. we are setting a record for the most rainfall in the month of October for all time this month. Fall is definitely here in our part of the world isn't it?

cheers

I was surprised to see how far north Scotland is.

Edinburgh is in the south, and is the same latitude as Dawson Creek BC, the start of the Alaska Highway!

Will get some pictures of the finished exterior this week. I have my stairs, stove and plasterboard for the room upstairs hopefully get it all done this winter. Took quit a while to get to this stage with a 2 year old and a 3 month old baby. The joys of fatherhood.
