I get moved around a lot and have had many garages. That said, each time I get more and more organized. Judging by the picture below, you would think otherwise but the moving truck just left a week ago. Stay tuned. I am hoping this is the last time I get transferred so I am spending some money on both of my favorite things... cars and shop. I do both metal and wood working and love wrenching on cars. All of that is expensive and a 3 cars garage gets small fast. Here is the "before"...

What is ordered and arriving within the next few days:

BAS 4ft high bay LED ceiling light fixtures
BAS 8ft ceiling fan
B&W In-ceiling speakers
Rotary Revolution RTP9
Ingersoll Rand 7.5HP 80 Gallon Compressor

I had the floor sealed and coated which is incredible. You can wipe an oil, its easy to sweep and keep clean... highly recommend it.

This is my recent purchase... Got an incredible deal on it. My son (and even my daughters) and I have great conversations in the garage and its one of the many times that being a dad is awesome and probably my favorite. This should create a few memorable conversations:

It has brake and interior issues. LMC Truck and Summit Racing have been written into my will at this point. This is going to be a money vampire.

Yesterday, I bought a complete LS motor and 4L60E trans "kit" out of a wrecked 04 Avalanche. It should be ready to pick up today so we get to go to one of my son's favorite places... the junk yard! Will post stuff as I work on it and install. Enjoy and thanks for letting me share!

Very nice project space and project truck, sir.

And way to go investing precious time with your kiddoes; they will remember that forever!

I am in Oklahoma, sublime...

Lights showed up! These things are heavy! For what they cost, I was disappointed they didn't include mounting hooks. Oh well. Off to Home Depot.

Also had the brake booster and master cylinder arrived today. Grabbed my son and got to it. Here is the old manual master...

I should probably post a pic of the thing installed but I cocked up and forgot to order a couple fittings. Hate it when a project is stalled by a $2 part.

LOL... I didn't realize that was in the picture. My father used to be a Snap-On dealer before he retired. I got the have all his promo stuff that he never used/sold. I have an equally giant sized wrench. It supposed to be mounted on the wall.

Got 4 of the lights in. Trying to decide if I need the other 2. The lights are incredible. They offer task lighting almost anywhere in the garage and are not harsh like my old LED lights from my previous garage. Either way I like it!

The new proportioning valve really helped with these tired old drum brakes.

The only thing I don't like is the brake booster bracket. It really sticks out far and has a goofy angle to it. Apparently it supposed to be like that and the performance is not affected. Its a small thing so I am fine with it. The LS will distract me:)

I will be completely replacing the drums with a Wilwood disc set-up later. Have to covert to a 5 lug at the same time so it will take the wheels I want. Picking up engine and trans Monday from the wrecker. More goodies from Summit showed up today. Got motor mounts, shift linkage, trans cross member and some LMC factory replacement stuff. More to come.

Got the ginormous screw driver and wrench up... Mounted some other memorabilia and got some more floor space back but didn't bother taking pictures. It was too hot to work in garage today and had other honey do things to take care of. This coming week should have lots of updates.

Got the LS and 4L60E.

Headers, rad, and other stuff is showing up daily. Lift is scheduled to be installed Thursday.

For those with 2 post lifts, how far from the garage door did you install your lift? I know there is a standard of about 12ft but I want as much room in front of the lift as possible.

The guy I bought it off of said it was tractor paint... LOL. Its a metallic tan with a matt finish. I love the look of it but the body work is less than desirable. They replaced some cosmetic things but nothing structural. It needs a new floor structure on the cab so the color may change when I get that point.

Got the lift installed today. I decided at the last minute to have it installed vs doing it myself. This 40 year old body has years abuse on it (rugby, wrestling, etc...) and I forget that I can't do it all myself anymore. Wife talked me into the installation in all honesty. Glad she did. Those guys worked hard all day but did a great job.

I got a quote from an electrician to run power for my lift and add a couple welder outlets. $1200!!!! So I decided to do it myself. As I was pulling the wire through the attic I lost my footing.

I type this post with an ice back on my leg and nursing my pride. Mad that I have to fix the ceiling but it is what it is I guess.

Also got parts for the truck yesterday and today. Lots of small bits from LMC but the fun stuff is here:
Headers!

LS swap motor mounts!

Also got new radiator and wiring supplies for the LS harness conversion. Looking forward to that.

Tough crowd...

I got my cold saw and grinder wired finally. I loath fishing wire and thats probably the only reason it has taken this long. Its done and it works. Especially heavy gauge wire. It doesn't like to bend very well. Needed these hooked up to cut and finish the steering column intermediate shaft. Will do that tonight after getting the saw coolant mixed and refilled.

This sucker is 3 phase. I used a Timco 3PH inverter. Its low amp draw but direct start. Work OK but eventually I will install a Phase Technologies digital inverter. Best grinder ever IMHO:)

Sweet truck and nice start to your shop, guessing you work in the oil patch based on "in Oklahoma" and hard hats? Keep up the good work! And fyi 40 is the new 30!

Thanks cajun... I don't think anyone willingly moves to Oklahoma unless its job or family related. That said, the people here are awesome. I didn't think any place was friendlier than Texas but Oklahoma could beat them. Much better than Denver or Alberta, Canada. Those were the most unwelcoming places I have ever lived. Been in Oil & Gas for over 19 years and my favorite place of all time was Columbia. I was told once that "A career is only job you have had too long". That summs up my Oil and Gas tenure. I went to school to become for radio and television. Turns out the Oil & Gas summer job gig that was paying for that degree stuck.

My son is big into restoring old parts. If we can fix it instead of replacing, he is all about it. My thought process is more time related... I would rather order a replacement part and bolt it in. I am proud of him though. He has time to spend right now on restoring parts and is learning during the process.

Installed all the air line. Just waiting on a whip hose for the ceiling mounted hose reel.

Got more done on the C10 as well.
LS installed... kind of. The mounts are wrong. It fits but not like it should. New mounts coming.

Anyone know how to get rid of an old motor and trans? If anyone one in Oklahoma City/Edmond area wants this, come and get it! Free... PM me. Still runs but leaks.
