Scrap lumber rack - hack

I've been trying to get all my scrap lumber sorted and off the floor. I welded together a simple rack out of some scrap 5/8" x 2" rectangular tube. That's taken care of some of the clutter.

I need more storage and found someone selling what looks like retail store shelving. The seller only has the vertical and horizontal supports for sale. See pics. Will these racks support a decent amount of weight. I know "decent" is a very subjective term. Once I have it on the wall I could weld it together to increase the holding power if needed.

That looks like Knape and Voight hardware. As long as it screwed to the wall properly you can hang pretty much anything on it.

I bought some years ago when I had my engine shop. I had shelves with cast iron block Kohler engines sitting on a couple of those brackets. They will handle wood storage just fine, in fact I used them for that purpose myself.

I'd tend to want to tack weld them at the slots, but I'm sure they hold a fair amount of load in the back of stores

I use shelf brackets as well. I put some vertical extensions on the tips of the brackets after experiencing a lumber avalanche.

The Knape and Voight shelf brackets will not fall off, you need a hammer to pound them up to get them off the uprights. They will hold pretty much all you want to put on them, moreso if you put and up right at every stud. No need to tack weld them. These are not your home store variety!
