Because I enjoy old hand tools, my wife picked up an old Skilsaw model 552 for me to play with. After a thorough cleaning, replacing the missing cord and installing a new blade, I was anxious to try it out. I was a bit dismayed when I pressed the trigger and it made a horrendous screeching sound. Long story short, grease doesn't work as a lubricator for the armature bushing, it needs to be electric motor oil. After some online searches I learned that little hole at the end of the housing is where the oil goes. Just a drop or two is all it needs. Yes it really was that simple.
