Screen filter for humidifier input

I just replaced our humidifier because of a faulty solenoid valve. HVAC comoany just gave me a whole unit since they were really busy. Luckily it was under warranty. After the swap, I tested the unit and the circuit board was calling for the solenoid valve to open but it wouldn’t. It failed after 2.5 years.

This humidifier takes a quick connect 1/4” poly tubing as the input. If I unscrew that fitting, there is a tiny cone mesh filter screen. I would like to have some other type of filter, preferably screen.

I know I can get a whole house filter with the replaceable cartridges but the humidifier is used about 4 months out of the year. The cartridges would likely get funky if not replaced seasonally.

Is there any type of mesh screen filter that could catch some of the weird **** in the line? I think this stuff was water that sat in the tube for the remainder of the year. We have a large whole house filter but I want to keep the the water clean that goes into the humidifier. A screen that is washable would be great.

I've installed a ton of humidifiers over the years, the little screen filters in the inlet work ok unless you get a bunch of junk in the lines, easy enough to clean them if needed. I have a handful of customers that use an inline filter designed for refrigerators, those seem to work good but should only be used if your water supply is on the cold water, they are not rated for hot water.

Thanks for pointing out the potential hot water issue. I checked this filter manual

and they said no good on hot water over 100F.

I found this one on Zoro. Good for 150F. I like the idea of a clear bowl to be able to see if the screen is clean.
