Snap on makes a nice set for a little more than that, it's an 8 piece. There are cheaper USA made sets with lifetime waranty that I'm sure more people will refer you to!

Williams, other than the markings on the handle exactly the same as Snap on.

I bought a set of the Proto "Super screwdrivers" and I like them, but if I were going to buy a set today it would be this Blackhawk set:

A 22 piece set for under $100 including stubbies. I have a set of the driver handles and they are very nice. They have a hefty, quality, feel about them, lifetime warranty (no receipt or any ******** required) , and they feel nice in your hand. I may order this set anyway just for shits and giggles. I'm really digging Blackhawk at the moment. These are made in France.

Here is a thread where I went shopping for screwdrivers:
http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186145

Long story short, I bought the Gearwrench 20 piece set for $75.59 and I got a 4 piece Gearwrench scraper set for free. I bought mine through http://www.ntxtools.com/network-tool-warehouse/KDT-80066.html

I will caution you that there was a decent amount of negative press in my thread regarding ntxtools.com. My experience was 100% perfect and I will definitely give them another try.

Good luck.

I've acquired a representative sample of the SO Williams hard handles and my only real beef is the electrician flat tips don't have enough backbone in the shafts - they could have stiffer, larger OD shafts as far as I'm concerned.

I'm playing w/the idea of grinding the sides straight on a normal flat tip but not sure what it'll do over the life of the screwdriver w/the plating removed.
Anyone done this?

Before going hog wild on a set...find something that fits your hands comfortably. SnapOn hard handles are nice...no doubt, but I prefer the Macsimizer or Whia handle styles.

This kit shows to be $203 is there something I am missing?

Thanks for the ideas guys. Honestly I didn't loose any other tools except screwdrivers for some reason. After garage is done, I will be buying a craftsman tool chest for all my tools so none will be lost

Honestly, I would keep an eye on craigslist for a used toolbox..You can get a nice Snappy for about 1/4 of the price of a new box...I have an old craftsman box and I find that the drawers are too small..(Unless you plan on a Craftsman Pro Series, in which case they are too expensive (new)....

cool I saw that, and right away bought 2 sets! USA made at that...
I have paid ALOT more for Mac MATCO and SO screwdriver sets in the past... and yea they do get lost quick; Just 3 minutes ago they showed "4 sets available/I bought 2

arrgh I got in a hurry I shoulda looked at the rest of the post; I see "tools delivered" has teh same set $15/set cheaper... still cheaper than SO; I have so many partial sets and such of all brands it is ridiculous I am getting back into wrenching after being away for a few years I need to go thru my stuff and come up with a list of missing/busted tools in the next week so i can start replenishing them... I am actually embarassed at the state of my tool collection; not making excuses for myself but a good portion of it is because of a story I relayed about MAC tools not being able to keep a rep in this area and how much I lost to my "old" mac man from when I lived at home; when he turned in 7 years worth of broken Mac tools and put them back on his truck to be resold...

but I wish that this was the extent of the reason for my lost tools over the years.

As far as which box to go, I opened up another thread asking for suggestions, I'd prefer to go new, and my budget is under 2k
