I read an old school recommendation that said use valve lapping compound on partially stripped screw heads. Found a little jar at an estate sale but haven't had any bad screws to try it on.
Maybe just having it around has prevented me from screwing up any screws? A lucky charm? :lol_hitti

Now in keeping with GJ tradition, does it matter what grit compound you use? Coarse or fine better?

When I picked up the jar I have I wasn't aware there were different grits. I suppose a coarser grit would work better (more "cutting" into the surface), but I don't know for sure.

I'm not praying to strip out a screw just to try the stuff because with my luck it'll be a do-or-die situation.:shocking:

I have used it. It works great. Maybe to good. Your screwdriver will break before camming out.

The trick is as soon as the screw starts to cam out stop and put a drop of screwgrab onto it. Then wiggle the screwdriver lightly to kind of seat it into the compound. Then turn the screw out, or break the screw head off, or break the end of your screwdriver off.
