I have some of these screw pin shackles with a mark I'm unfamiliar with. The "M" inside of a circle.

I can't seem to find anything online - or can't search correctly. Does anyone know who the manufacturer of this shackle is?

Might this be it? Do you need that exact brand or something equivalent? Or are you just curious?

M inside a circle was a trademark of Moore Drop Forging from Springfield Massachusetts. They made lots of famous things including Craftsman "v" series wrenches, and the "Ford" wrench.

That said, the company hasn't existed for some time under that name and the trademark may have expired.

The m on that shackle isn't in a circle. It's an oval.

Not my area of expertise, but this chart indicates that the mfg name should be top center.. the M is a product identification code.

Can someone more knowing confirm?

OP, anything on the flip side?

The Springfield plant was closed 20 plus years ago. Moore was absorbed by Easco , then Danaher, then ultimately Apex tool group. It's been a long time since it was a thing.

The M in an oval is Midland Forge, a part of CM (but maybe not an actively used brand anymore?).

From a business listing: "The CM Forge Group provides products to the commercial and government sectors. For government and military work, Midland Forge (CAGE code 90202) and Dixie Industries (CAGE code 93922) provide items primarily in Federal Supply Classes 3990 and 4030, as well as other FSC."

Catalog from 2008.

The WLL14t is a red herring as previously mentioned.

I do recall Midland Forge, but I didn't know they were part of CM. Thanks for all the replies!
