FWIW, for JIS screws with the cross-slot drive, I have a set of Vessel JIS drivers. I got mine from McMaster-Carr. If folks are dealing with many of these fasteners, I recommend getting the specific screw driver.

Some of the smaller screws (m5 and M6) screws I buy from US suppliers come with the JIS cross, often indicated by a little dot on the fasteners.

I was actually going to buy the Vessel screwdriver. During my research, I discovered that there really is no difference between the Vessel and other newer screwdrivers made to DIN 5260 standards. (Source linked below)

I can see my older Craftsman screwdrivers come to a sharper point than the newer screwdrivers which almost have a sqared off point. The older ones would not work on JIS screws at all. They would cam out and bend the slots.

My Wera fits a JIS screw so perfectly, you think it was made just for that screw. There is no slop at all. I can't imagine a Vessel or any other brand having a better fit. Looking closely at a Vessel and a Wera, I can't see any difference in the shape.

This is one of the threads that I read. Post #141...

Thanks for pointing (pun not intended) that out. I have both here, I’m going to look. I have found the JIS to work really good. I think the Vessel and Wera are of very similar quality from what I can tell.
