Screwdriver opinions

Wondering if anyone can chime in with their thoughts on Klien screwdrivers and insulated screwdrivers.

I have a fairly respectable homeowner toolset with the exception of my clear handle SMELLY craftsman screwdrivers. They gotta go.

So narrowed down to klien normal and insulated screwdrivers, snap-on instinct set (I buy and sell tools as a side gig so bound to come across a set pretty cheap) or a macsimizer set that I'd have to find on eBay.

Not into Husky, HF, Lowe's brand or any of the craftsmans. Wera I'm not a fan of the handles.

Thoughts? Also anywhere to buy klien other than HD or is that best place to get them?

youre in wisconsin. you have a menard's somewhere. cushion grip masterforce drivers are near IDENTICAL to klein cushion grip. and 15% off till saturday closing
masterforce non cushion grip aren't bad, either

A shop local to me is a Klein distributor, so I prefer to go there rather than HD.

I feel that the Klein screwdrivers are marginally acceptable, and their insulated screwdrivers are sub-par. From what I've seen, their insulation is softer (easier to damage), and thicker than better insulated screwdrivers you can get elsewhere. If you don't like the Wera handles, look at the Milwaukee insulated screwdrivers. Those have handles very much like the Klein. They're unfortunately imported, but I think they're head and shoulders better than Klein's insulated drivers.

I went with the Wiha 32189 Slim Line 2pc set for insulated.



For normal use I have PB Swiss (slotted+ Torx), Vessel (Phillips/JIS) & Wiha (mixed set). I'm not a huge fan of Klein screwdrivers.

I used Klein insulated screwdrivers at work today. Brand new Klein screwdrivers are awesome. Once the rubber grips on the handles wear down they ****. I recently purchased these Wera Kraftform Plus insulated screwdrivers for home when they were on sale and although the handles aren't my most favorite, the tips are extremely nice. If you have a hand the size and texture of a baseball mitt, klein screwdrivers are for you. If you want to not shread your hands definitely look to german or elsewhere. Weras are sooo nice. Wiha also.

Thanks guy! I'll check out the masterforce ones when I stop at menards.

I'll also look into those wiha and wera insulated (I'm liking those wiha).

Also thanks in the tips about klien, I'll probably pass now and check into others that were mentioned.

Witte screwdrivers are very nice also. I have a set they made for Napa.

Kleins not really that bad, I used for years, very good tools, just there are more comfortable options.

I'd vote for mix and match, depending on what toolboxes need what tools.

For auto use, snap on. For contractor/trade type work, pick a handle that spins a bit better and packs a bit smaller.

PB is good if you don't mind the hassle to get them; the other euro brands are easier to get deals on, but each has their own handle geometry.

I don't do a lot of house electrical, so picked up the cheap set of HF, did the needed job, stuck them in a box.

I recently I picked up some wera screwdrivers. For the value they cannot be beat. Williams hard handles are a good option as well.
