Screwdriver organization in toolbox

What good ways are there of organizing screwdrivers in toolboxes?

I was just laying them out by flat and phillips but the drawer they are in will become a "pile" of screwdrivers once I get some more at sears.

I got a screwdriver organizer tray at sears and it's just a little large for my toolbox unless I cut off the handle. (I may do that as I'll usually just grab one at a time.)

Any other ideas? Maybe I'll just keep the better c-man in the box and the rest on the wall

I am having the same problem. I think I may just hang them all on pegboard. They are way too messy in the toolbox.

A few ideas come to mind. First, there's a company called Ernst Manufacturing that make screwdriver rails. These are like wrench rails or racks but, designed for holding screwdrivers. Unlike a traditional rack, these are two long pieces of plastic with notches cut out for handles and blades. Trim to fit and space as desired. They're held in with double sided tape or magnetic tape.They work pretty well. You could use some type of nonslip drawer liner in your screwdriver drawer to keep the screwdrivers from rolling around. You could also arrange most of your screwdrivers except for the really long ones, from left to right, pointing front to rear to prevent rolling. If security isn't a concern use could use a metal or magnetic holder attached to the side of your tool box/chest/cart.

i just put all of my screwdrivers on drawers and it is more rooms without the organization... i did tried before and it is not work good for me... i just want put more tools in one drawer until it is full then put next drawers... but i have snap on service cart with screwdrivers ports so i can put my mostly used tools in and i just use a lot of my service cart than my KRL series...

Sears sells tool cut-out foam that's about 1/2" thick. You apply the included adhesive backed paper to the foam, and then trace the tools onto the paper with a pen. The foam comes with a knife for cutting out the foam to the shape of the tool. This is what I did for my screwdrivers, and it's worked well. if nothing else, i know exactly which screwdriver my wife has taken to use use for prying open paint cans (which I don't mind) and for bashing down the paint lids with the handle-end (which drives me insane)

I leave mine in the tray that they come in. A little bulky, but very well organized. I can open the drawer and go straight to the one I am needing or see if any are missing and/or out of place.

I find this works very well for screwdrivers- Every other method wastes too much space for me. Layer the screwdrivers in the divided sections by length.
You can also place the handles of infrequently used screwdrivers toward the back of the drawer and the more commonly used SD toward the front.
PLan B would be to store them vertically (wall, pegboard, side cart etc...)

I put my screwdrivers in one drawer alternating the handles front and back. I can fit almost twice as many in the same space that way.

Got these at my local Dollar Store. I like them, and the price is right! I like the fact that I can take them out of my drawer and take all of them them with me.

The craftsman version is exactly the same, probably made in the same mold.
I got them with the cvoupon so it was $.63 with a pencil.


Added pic of the final drawer decision. These help create a "second level" to this deep drawer I have. So far, no aggravation taking the screwdrivers in and out.

Which dollar store did you get those at? Hope it is one of the chains. Those look like they would work well and you could hang them on the side of you're tool box too.

I've got too many screwdriver like things for drawer storage. What I have in mind is a piece of wood, maybe a 2x4, hanging somehow to the lip that runs around the back of my roll away, with a series of 3 holes drilled from the top at 90, 75, and 60 degrees from vertical. I need to play around with a piece of wood to get a feel for what will work best in sorting them, but thats the basic idea I have in mind.

I still might put some in a drawer, but I figure pry bars and most used I want fast access, and some is just too big for a drawer.

OTOH I don't want it to look like some kind of hot dog cart with bits hanging all over.

It's called the Dollar Mart, quite a few in the Niagara Region
I have also seem them at Dollarama.

I tried the sears version of those plastic screwdriver holders....it lasted about a day. too much work to get the screwdriver in and out. Not worth it IMHO.
